Damn!
I am facing this very weird problem lately on my sony ericsson w580i.
While using the gprs service, my phone frequently loses the gprs connection after varied intervals of time. The only option to get the gprs connection back is by restarting the phone. This problem has cropped up recently and there were no recent application installs. I use the opera mini browser. Otherwise the calling functions work fine and only the gprs connection is giving me trouble.

My consideration was also same as yours, mainly for the google maps.
Actually by download I meant to say downloading maps tiles in apps like "mgmaps" etc.

@aman9393: Could you please confirm this? The Airtel site says : browsing is free through airtel mobile office pack which I did not understand at all.

@Ram, which model do you have - the N86 or N95 ?

@Chevelle, thank you. If things go as planned, should have it in hand in a week. The price is a major + for the C905, over and above the features.

I had a quick look at the SE Vivaaz today. I feel the lens will easily get soiled / oiled since the lens will almost 100% touch the palm when one holds it during a call.

@condor, I have the N82.

It has been used a lot, as an always available
  • pocket autofocus macro camera with Xenon flash, for photographing white-boards in meetings where cameras would have been disallowed.
  • a pocket photocopier, for notice boards, quotes in books, and documents -- situations when a Xerox machine was not available.
The quality everytime has been highly useable.

I didn't "upgrade" to the N86 as it would not have worked, for me sans the Xenon flash. Besides its extreme wide angle lens would have introduced pincushion distortion while "photocopying" documents.

parvath: my N82 is now showing heavy physical wear, small dings on the edges of the ABS plastic, rubbed off chrome-plating on some function keys. But it is fully and reliably functional.

Sadly, we may no longer buy a new one, so I bought a new battery for it recently in Singapore.

Hi Ram,
Cheers to a fellow N82 worshipper! I have been using it from June 2008 and simply love this phone! As a phone it is simply awesome. But have 2 major problems of late!

1; The faceplate/fascia has completely come off. The battery cover no longer stays on. Have stuck it with "ISI" mark tape

2; Battery is woeful. 4 shoots with the flash, and the battery conks off.

Do you have any suggestions for the same ? The BP-6MT is not easily available in India I guess. Any other compatible batteries that you can think of ?

As far as I know, the BP-6MT was easily available in Mumbai and in Singapore -- I got it in the first shop I went to -- a small Nokia kiosk on the ground floor of the Funan DigitaLife Mall.

Nokia just announced E5 which is more or less equal specs with E72, but at the half price (~180 Euros).. Other models are also impressive. I am sure Nokia will have a blast against blackberry and samsung.

Yes. What I had seen was like this.
This is not original Nokia. It is Chinese made, but of passable quality.

I would say about Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 1,400 sounds about right.
I might have paid a little more
as it was in a big electronics mall in Singapore,
and one loses some money in inter-currency conversion.
