As others have said service by Flipkart is very good.
The pacakaging was very good so that the phone does not get damaged in transit.

Just had a look at the phone for 10-15mins. It looks like a good phone to have.
Will explore the phone more over weekend.
After a long research Finally I also planned to buy this phone. This comes with my budget. However I was surprise to see the Internal memory of this phone.
A 158MB memory for 800MHz processor. The Sumsung 3 has more Memory with less processor speed.

I too saw that information but was wondering what would be the issue with that. We can always add more external memory through a Micro SD Card. Kindly advise if I am missing something.

Yes. We can add any amount of External memory. But the RAM is completely a different game all together. It plays a vital role in performance of a gadget/computer. Its something like your computer having 1GB ram where as your HD is 1 TB.

158 MB is not the RAM. It is internal memory that we can use to store things on.
AFAIK, the internal memory is different from RAM. Don't know the RAM figures though for this cell? Hopefully should be 512MB like all other models.

Edit: Checked and noticed that the RAM is 348MB which I believe is low compared to other models in the same range

You have
Oruxmaps
Brutmaps
Locus
Trekbuddy
Big Planet tracks
@tsk: What do you mean no routing in these apps. I am using Brut maps and it has routing. Or am I missing something here?

I have already used Mobile Atlas Creator and made offline map data for Trivandrum. It's a nice tool.

The OliveSmart V-S300 is being launched in association with Aircel and will be priced under Rs. 20,000 i.e. Rs. 19,999.
(India’s first 3G HSPA+ phone and more importantly, India's first smartphone that will be powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread)

The specs of OliveSmart V-S300 look really tempting and at a really good price. My Galaxy S is not even 2 months old and it feels outdated..

Anyone using the Olive pad? How's it.

Its the cheapest available compared to Apple and Samsung offering. The processor speed and rom/ram is low but got the USB so one can use memory stick. Camera is same as Galaxy 3mp and is 7inch.

Some charging observations

I wanted to see whether the 700mA rated car charger can safely charge the phone. After some research direct observations of the charging in car, here are some details.

As you know, two charging modes are there for the phone
i) Charging through wall socket
ii) USB Charging - while connected to a PC

Which category will the car charger fall? Here's an explanation:

1) How does the phone recognize whether it is USB port or wall socket? (Because both are connected to the phone using the same cable)

Answer: The data lines. If they are shorted, then the phone will assume that it is connected to a wall socket. If they aren't shorted, it will assume that it is connected to a USB port.

2) What is the difference?

Answer: The charging current. With wall socket charging, the phone will try to draw a higher charging current (~1A) but in USB mode, it will just take about 500mA.

3) What mode is it when you connect to USB charger in car?

Answer: USB mode. Why? The data lines are not shorted. You can easily note this because the phone will issue a prompt saying that it is connected to USB port.

Issue: Slow charging. with 500mA charging current, phone will only get charged if it is left in standby mode. If you try to use GPS/Navigation or any other heavy application, the phone will not charge but battery won't get drained either. (My observation - I drove around 20 minutes with charging on and also GPS/Navigation. The battery went down from 43% to just 42% in that 20 minutes. Had I not put the phone under charge, it would have drained it to 30% or may be even less.)

4) What's wrong if I short the data lines in the USB car charger?

Answer: Don't try that if the charger cannot deliver the required current for normal charging. In my case, the charger is rated 700mA, and the phone needs more than that in normal charging mode. So eventually, the charger will get heated up due to overload and may blow. I understand that HTC has over voltage protection, otherwise the phone also may get damaged due to the possibility of getting exposed to 12V directly through a blown regulator IC.

So, my 700mA USB car charger won't be able to charge the phone with GPS & Navigation on but it will just keep the battery from discharging rapidly.

Yes this is a known issue & thats why some of the Universal Docks come with two types of holders, one is the standard suction cup for Glass & the other is a mount which puts the device in front of the A/c Ducts, like this

Universal Car Dock for Phones & PDAs

A/c Vent Dock

I tried the olive pad recently at Chroma and it just does not seem as fluid or easy to use as the Samsung tab. The tab is far superior overall.
