Please check what is your network setting.
Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode

I think the suggested setting would be GSM/WCDMA Preferred.

If it's already the same, try GSM only and switch to GSM/WCDMA preferred when you want to use 3G.

If you are on 3G by default, when the signal strength comes below a certain level, it switches to 2G and I guess the call drops at such times. Not sure whether its a phone specific / operator specific problem.

SE neo V would come for 15k. It has 1Ghz processor, 5MP Cam, gingerbread and can be upgraded to ICS in march

Any HTC options for 15 to 17k?

SE Neo is reporting some reboot issues.

I am using SE Neo V for last couple of months. Atleast I haven't faced reboot issues. But I feel the build could have been better.

I had gone to the vodafone store this evening for the issue and they replaced my SIM. After that everything seems to be working ok.
Does 3G require a different SIM like maybe one with higher memory?

Not sure about this. For Airtel there was no change of SIM card. I just activated 3G service.

The least quote is in homeshop18.com for 17400/- and flipkart is 17500/-. It retails out in the market at 18k. Where is available for 15 K . Can you give names of the dealers/online shopping sites?. So that it would be helpful.

Yes motorola sells lesser than Sammy etc, esp in India, but they have a decent lineup, sell okay (and are now a google company!). That said, any mfr can have issues - there are many samsung users who've had hardware issues as well (a couple of pages back someone mentioned he'd given in his S2 for replacement of sthg, a good friend had his SGSL motherboard replaced). that said, atleast on this thread havent heard of any hardware issues on motorola phones at all.

and frankly, all A.S.S will have the same clueless monkeys - hardly 2-5% of the time one needs to go there. Its not a pentax vs canon thing - the phone is pretty good esp if you are outdoors a lot (given pune rains).

otherwise dualcore phones are starting 19-20k. Future proof investment I say - no point stopping at a 17k device in that case.

I got 3G activated on my vodafone account, last sunday and it involved no change in SIM.

Infact a colleague was asking if a new SIM was needed for 3G, and mentioned about memory etc. I have no clue of what that is, especially given that I am using a 5+ year old SIM.

iOS again is neatly integrated. Android now needs to move to the next level, by integrating alot of apps as basic services for a fully featured OS experience for the guy who doesn't want to install any apps for it. For the rest of us, i am still quite happy with all the fun android provides.
I like to differ with the integration part of iOS.

Android app developers has the ability to use 'intents' that would enable them to reuse other app components in a very good way within their app. This is not possible in iOS.

Impact? An iOS app that wants to make use of an existing app component needs to invoke that with a custom URL or by copying the needed code and building it as one app.

Android, on the other hand, handles it in a much better way - suppose an app wants to send an e-mail but it is not its primary functionality. It raises that intent - the system then calls out, 'hey, who can send an e-mail for this app?' The apps that has a listener for this specific intent can raise their hands, and user is presented with an option to use whichever app they want to use to send the e-mail. The user can also set one as default. This is great, as it is versatile; tomorrow when you install a new e-mail app, the app who wants to send e-mail can make use of the new e-mail app's capabilities as well.

Practical experiences? Yes - a simple one would be how the VOIP app Viber is integrated in Android and iPhone.

In Android, calls made / received / missed in Viber seamlessly appear in Phone's call history in the proper place. In iPhone, phone's call history is one, Viber's is another one which can be seen only within Viber. There can be other examples too. People using iPhone thinks there is nothing better than that, they don't know what they are missing, but that's okay because iPhone has everything that an iPhone user wants
