Motorola India

Motorola India website has been closed down. Message on the homepage for India:

""We are streamlining our business and support systems,
and unfortunately, we'll no longer have a dedicated website
for India.

Your local support site will remain open well into the future,
and we'll continue to provide support for our existing products.

If you are interested in viewing our current products,
you can still do so here.*""

The message seems to suggest no more products for India. Just Support for existing ones.

Does this mean no more updates from moto?? If yes then too bad but its not the end of the world!!
Hope Motorola keeps a healthy supply of parts for its existing phones.
And Hope it returns back to India, one of the biggest mobile phone markets in the world.

Any shortcut on transferring contacts from BB to Defy+?
Try installing app called 'Rainbow contacts' . It will simply fetch all the contacts from ANY mobile with Bluetooth support.

BTW, currently using Quarx 17th Nov build as there are maby bugs in 18th Nov build. In case someone planning to flash 18th CM10, please wait. Even the Bluetooth fix zip causes bootloops...

Can I remove Rainbow contacts now? Or will it take the contacts with it?

I never thought it was because of Viber. Can you please tell me the exact version of Viber which is stable, I might find the backup in app monster pro.
And moreover, Have you not tried any ICS/JB based roms? It is such a sweet thing to kill the apps in ICS, just long press Home key and slide your fingers. But, with GB based Roms, it's not so friendly.
My viber is version 2.1.2. I actually started to install older viber versions one by one to see which one hangs. The worst thing is, there is absolutely no indication that the hang is because of viber. I was able to figure this out only because I installed only one app at a time and waited for 3 to 4 days before installing the next app.

I have not yet tried ics or jb yet. Any recommendations on whjhc ones are good? As of now I am loving cm7.2 and don't see any reason to move, but you know what, we guys don't need a reason to do something new ain't it? .

The info is sparse to judge properly but, the crux is

No new devices for India.

Support (Hardware & firmware) to continue for existing devices

Really sad to see them go like this. Hope atleast Google considers bringing nexus devices here.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Can someone recommend some cool games that are free and that defy plus can handle in stock mode. I've only installed Temple Run so far.

I'm on office related travel for complete next week so wanted to install stuff that is interesting and helps in passing time.

Office related travel and games I know, aren't we all workaholics!

Yes .you can remove that app if you want. It wont remove contacts. To be on safer side, you can also take Export of your current contact list.

Congrats! I was just about to post a link to Snapdeal where they have Defy at Rs 12750 and only a few pieces are left!

As someone else already suggested, root before you do anything. Defy has some excellent ROMs, especially WajkIUI (based on MIUI) and White Rabbit.

Defy plus shouldnt be discontinued. Its a good VFM phone. I am in Aus at the moment & getting a deal for defy+ @ $99 ~ INR 5600/-. Brand new. BUT LOCKED. Thats OK i guess; root & custom rom should solve the issue i guess.

I already have a defy+ since april 2012. But since i am getting a deal; picking up one for my bro.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I bought a moto atrix2 2 days ago from flipkart. Initial impressions are good. However, Vodafone 2g is grandpa slow. Takes ages to load. Everytime i try to open goggle play store,it takes too long to open and the connection resets. How good is Vodafone 's 3g plan?

Vodafone is really good at least in MH..check my speeds on the "At last 3G in India" thread - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadget...ml#post2963657

AFAIK Airtel's network and coverage is better in KA state while Vodafone and Idea are better in MH. You may want get inputs from some of your friends on Vodafone and Airtel before finalising.
