Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I updated to 4.1.2 this morning too. Official release notes just mention a few bug fixes. But read on other forums that there are some changes to location based services and the settings too have moved to a different location.

Only Software or hardware too? You can take care of most of your software issues on your own. XDA is the best source of info. Is this online or through a local dealer? The lowest price online (ebay) is 20990. I got it from ebay. In case of a local store its good as you don't have to wait once you put the money down.

Just make sure the box is sealed.

I moved to 4.1.2 yesterday after a OTA update.

This update brings the ability to expand and contract notifications with one finger.

Another thing I just noticed, though I'm not sure it was a part of the 4.1.2 or not. I can now add soccer teams to Google Now for the sports card.

You can go for it. Take something in writing regarding the dealer warranty. I got mine from the US since i didnt knew any good dealers here and just to get a complete peace of mind on the originality / authenticity. Total 22k without any applicable warranty.

I think that once the price are reduced by the company online portals are a bit slow in doing so.

Never the less it was a decent deal when your colleague bought it.
No. It was A9.

The price is still 8K on Flipkart.

Sorry, thanks for correcting me.

A9 at 7.5k is really a very good deal and some offline deals are much better than online one's.

Ordered it, from ebay. He offers hardware service warranty if the item is brought to Chennai. The cost was 21.4K in total. I hope this phone lives up to my expectations.

Regarding software, I know there is no need of warranty on it, as we can do anything on our own. This will be my second Android, already using a rooted, S-OFF'ed custom ROM'ed HTC Desire.

Do you guys run a custom ROM or have done any OC stuff on this? I heard that this can be OC'ed to 1.8GHz. But I think the stock performance itself is quite decent.

I have never rooted a phone ever so i am not going to venture into this territory with a new phone. And i am a basic user as my usage is an hour of calls, whatsapp, FB, TBHP (when i am not in office), angry birds on some days.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Which launcher would you recommend for Galaxy S2? Battery drain should be equal to or less than present stock launcher i.e. touchwiz.

When you say launcher, what does it mean. Is it the basic OS setup?

In that case i am using GO Launcher for my GNex. It seems decent.

Hi I am currently using Sony Ericsson Xperia neo v 2.3.4 ginger bread android . I would like to upgrade to ics . But I really fear to do so, because recently my friend faced lot of problems in upgrading and finally ended up paying a ransom to the service centre people and all the data was lost .
So people please suggest me the right way of upgrading .

Best launcher for any thing above 4.0.4 is nova prime launcher.

Yes, I mean launcher for stock OS.

Have heard about Go launcher that battery drain is more so needed confirmation or are alternatives like Nova or Launcher Pro better in this regard?

If i take it off 100% charging it goes till 50% in around 10 - 11 hours with the usage as stated above by me. I think thats decent or is it not?

Today its on 79% and its been 6 hours now with just a couple of calls and whatsapp.
