Yes; got one last week. Yet to move full time as my BB server has to be enabled for Android for Work.

Good point with regard to the speaker. While I used it for 3 days, never found the need for the physical keyboard! Ended up using only the onscreen keyboard.

They still have a long way to go for fully integrating the Android system with the BB10 features.

Hub still acts as a separate system than the default email client. So, you end up needing to add the account twice, once to the regular client and then to the hub. Not all the features of the Hub are available.

I do hope this does not become my last BB device, but something tells me it is.

Priv returned and refund collected. The slider had a play in it in the bottom left corner. An major irritant when typing!!!

Apart from that, there is a change in the licensing part. One cannot pop in a BB sim into Priv and use the existing BES server data. You will have to procure additional CAL's to use these devices. Rate at $100+ per annum per license.

This was told to me by the local BB support shop.

I am not sure who at BB thought of this move! Why should the end user pay more just because of being the one moving to their flagship product?

Regardless, that is the end of road for BB in my organization. Moving everyone out of BB and into iPhones.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

After a long time agonizing about what phone to buy (iPhone, Android) after my trusty Z10, the decision sort of got made on its own. One day last month my Z10 got accidentally pushed off my bedside table and fell flat on its face. Such that the screen broke and 3/4ths of it didn't respond to touch. I got it replaced for Rs. 1,500 but for some reason after the change the phone was heating up a lot.

At around that time a colleague bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and I was stunned by the general fit, finish and features for 10k. So on a lark I took part in the next flash sale and ended up snagging the 32gb version for 12k. Put a 64gb card in it and now I have a 96gb, 5.5 inch phone with fingerprint sensor and 4,000 mah battery. (As I write this my battery charged Friday night is 61% full.)

I miss the hub and the way all contacts are collated in BB10 but overall I can't complain.

For those who use the iPhone or the Priv or any other expensive Android -- the world will be taken over by these Chinese companies. In features, price, performance - there is just no comparison.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Hey everyone,

I am currently using the Blackberry Q5 and loving it. I have been using a Blackberry since 2008 and I find it the best when it comes to emailing. Blackberry Messenger was also a hit but died a slow death after WhatsApp was introduced.

Now, I go to know recently that WhatsApp is ending all support to Blackberry OS 7 (and earlier) and Blackberry 10 by December 2016. This means I will not be able to use WhatsApp on my Blackberry Q5 post December 2016. In addition, WhatsApp will also stop support to Android 2.1, Android 2.2, Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60 and Windows Phone 7.1.

Details here : http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-35686613

Considering I want to continue using a Blackberry (specifically with a QWERTY keyboard) and WhatsApp and, the only current option seems to be the Blackberry Priv running Android which is a whooping 55k in Mumbai.

Is this purchase worth it?

Not specifically from the pricing point, but as a product, I would vote yes. I currently use a Nexus 6P, which keeps reminding me of the various options and benefits the OS10 had given me and now, the Android version.

I believe Android M update has already been released to the Priv.

Yes, this happened quite some time back. The battery life has certainly improved post the Marshmallow.

Wouldn't sideloading be possible on BB10 devices?

Hope so. I'm on a Passport

I dont think you can see the notifications on the Hub though.

I am waiting for the blackberry rome to replace my trusty old q10.

I do use an android phone as well but I find it hard to live without the hub.

I have not checked this, to be honest. But, looking at how Priv was, I do believe there will be this shortfall.

+1; the option to view all messages and alerts in one place, and also to act on them, is indeed a blessing, especially when you have multiple accounts & services to track.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I read on the world wide web that RIM is going to launch two new phones within the ongoing Q3, code named BB Hamburg & BB Rome.

Awaiting their launch and have put my current plans of moving to S7Edge on hold
