A BIG CONGRATS!!!!! That camera looks really small Samurai. I essentially like it's so called traditional 'SLR' look.

By that sense Olympus was the pathfinder of advance SLR designs. A big salute to that small build man Yoshihisa Maitani. This camera is also keeping his design in mind.

Something strange happened while I was at R K Photoguide. As I was checking out the camera, they showed me an OM4 they had with them. Held next to each other they were of same shape and size. It was nice to see OM-D's ancestor.

BTW they have released a new version of 17mm. Its on premium side. f1.8. Same quality as their famous 12mm. About 500 dollars.

Right now I don't have moola for any more lens. Right now I am desperately looking for a bag that can snugly carry the OM-D+12-50mm & 9-18mm. This is turning out to be a bigger challenge than choosing the camera. Most bags are designed for dSLRs and big lenses. Finding a camera for m4/3 body and lens is quite frustrating.

How much did you pay for it? When i asked RK they quoted me 72k. I felt it was little bit on higher side.

Do you know if they have any Panasonic/Oly MFT lenses. I would be interested in the 20mm 1.7.


As for bag, you can look at the Kata range of shoulder bags. I got one for mine as its quite good fit. Its very small also so it can go inside another backpack whenever there is a need for more equipment to be taken (for example flashes or tripods etc). The bag I have is model 433 that can take kit + 2 more small lenses but I'd advise you to go for a bigger model like 437 or 443.

I got Vanguard Boston 14 bag with E-PL1.
It is fits the camera with kit lens quite nicely. But not sure if its professional grade bag.

Have you tried the links I had given earlier - specifically the Lowepro bag finder? It will help in narrowing down to a few models that you can select from.

I came across this particular model that is similar to the Kata, the Event Messenger 100. The problem with Kata is there's a limited range available in India.

I had tried bag finders of many popular camera bag makers before posting my frustration. Ideally I wanted to try the bag first hand before ordering it. But shops hardly keep bags meant for CSC. I visited 5 camera shops today before giving up on that option.

I want the bag to be as compact as possible considering I switched from dSLR to EVIL mainly for reducing size.

A little late to the party, but congratulations Samurai . Welcome to the OM-D club. I didn't know RK had started stocking up on OM-D. When I got it, it was just Jayesh who had them. Anyway, as far as the bag goes I use a Domke F803 which I find is adequate for most of my needs. I can easiy carry the OM-D with 3 to 4 lenses in it. Sometimes, I have carried two bodies and 4 lenses. The material is quite nice and I have found the padding to be pretty good. It has a small slit at the back where you could carry a tablet if you want.

Having said that, I got it used last year for my kit and it's still with me. I think I paid about $50 for it and am not sure if it's available in India.

A dear friend of mine uses Crumpler bags and I thought they are quite good. If you want, I could check with him as to who sells them in India. Last time we spoke, he was telling me that someone in Chennai sells those. This will give you an idea:
