The Red Number Sticker / Plate is a number allotted to an auto showroom for use in transit of vehicles from Stock yard to Showroom / Workshop. The car once delivered is not supposed to be run on the Red Trade Licence Plate.

Re: Autocar India scoop: 2012 Honda City Facelift pics

I am keeping a close watch on developments with this facelift , i have about another 40 days to go on my NOC before it expires and i am hoping that the new city's details will be out by then.

I happened to visit 2 dealerships over the last week. One puts the launch in the first week of November , the other was rather tight lipped. Both did not disclose any details - they might not know anything - and insisted that i pick up the existing one instead of waiting.

You can certainly do that, no harms whatsoever. I highly doubt the current heavy discounts will be offered on this so called face lifted City.

Re: Autocar India scoop: 2012 Honda City Facelift pics

And thats where the headaches begin. I am ok losing out on some margins in terms of discounting , what i dont want to loose out on is the upgraded interiors ( of course given the news coming in its pretty much the same as the existing) but in case Honda does have a surprise in - store , the inside of the Honda is one unhappy piece for me - love the drive , handling is nice , space is good , interior quality however is a a few steps lower.

Re: Autocar India scoop: 2012 Honda City Facelift pics

The new city seems to look a lot like the current one, just like the Corolla upgrade this time and to some extent even last time seemed very marginal.

The city updates last two times (HC > NHC1> NHC2 > ANHC) were much more significant.

Do pardon the abbreviations as an exception but they did seem to be very apt here.

Actually it is more like HC1>HC2>NHC1>NHC2>ANHC1 and now ANHC2 and if you notice each of these MMCs (HC2, NHC2 and ANHC2) were minimalistic and only the next gens were substantially different from the previous ones..

And this version will go on for a couple of more years before a revamped diesel City comes.

Any idea if there's any change in engine or from technical aspect?

There should be no change to engine or specs this time other than a diesel engine which will come in 2013/2014.

The current i-VTEC is a gem.

Not sure if there is any change in the engine or tech aspects. But the facelifted version of the ANHC was seen at the ARAI being put through its paces by BHPian AyAn!. Not sure if just cosmetic upgrades also warrant a fresh ARAI certification.

Hey, maybe the inclusion of the ECO indicator is a breakthrough technology and hence they want to have it ARAI certified..

Yes, the current i-Vtec is a jewel of an engine, gem of a car (using their first gen punchline)

All the reports so far , including news from Thailand mention clearly ( could be wrong , maybe Honda has a surprise for us) that the engine will not be getting any changes / tweaks

Even if its minor change, ARAI certification is required, thats the norm.
Also, according to my friend who works there told that regularly prod vehicles are picked randomly for compliance checks. So even if the changes are cosmetic they need to take the new City via ARAI.

Even I think the road tests are for the ECO indicator. Knowing Honda and its history of facelifts, expect no major changes.
