re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

This looks more like Vitara - so many features including Panoramic roof , what are chances of getting 1.6 Ltr 4x4 with Drive mode & Gear pedals here ?

Given costs of Engine 2 Lac + Duties 30 % - it will be a challenge to keep this under 10 Lac in my opinion

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Long-term test review- Suzuki SX4 S-Cross by Auto Express UK after having the car for 11 months.

Gets 4 star rating

Variant : SX4 S-Cross 1.6 DDiS SZ5

Quote:
On the road, the SX4’s honest attributes shone through. You sit a few centimetres higher than in a conventional hatchback, but the body resists roll well and grip is plentiful. Well weighted controls and a strong diesel engine mean the S-Cross is more fun to drive than most competitors.
Quote:
The diesel’s punch and more relaxed character were missed, though. You have to work the petrol much harder and its five-speed gearbox is notchy and less satisfying than the diesel’s six-speeder.
Quote:
The S-Cross has gone and it’s made a very positive impression on us. The Suzuki doesn’t represent the cutting edge in the crossover class but it’s highly likeable, well resolved and decent value

Looks like Maruti is moving fast.
Exactly what I was speaking about. "S-Cross" standing out in the sponsor ad means the Indian car will also be called S-Cross. If it is called anything else, Maruti Suzuki has literally wasted all the money put into the sponsorship of IIFA. I guess, we will have to agree with Carophilic based on the ads.

Yes Carophilic, I will definitely agree with you as considering the IIFA sponsorship.

I don't think we should take the price shown in Zauba very seriously. The export prices shown there have no bearing on the ex-showroom prices. I have seen, for Honda Jazz, same variants showing different export prices and different variants having the same prices.

Swift vxi - 5L
Yra vxi - 5.5L
Yba vxi - 6L
Ertiga vxi - 6.5L
Ciaz vxi - 7L
Scross vxi - 7L
Vitara vxi - 8L

This would be a good lineup for maruti.

Duster Petrol does not sell at all. The top end Duster (AWD) costs approx 14 lakh. Scross with a much better interiors, more equipment and MSIL service back up surely rake in the numbers . The only challange will be people accepting its non conventional looks.

A Verna Diesel ( top end 1.6) costs 13.5 lakh on road in Noida. The prices indicated by you are for 18-24 month old cars in the used car market (for the higher end models)

14.5L for the diesel SX verna here in Bangalore

Considering that the Ciaz is 13.1L here in Bangalore, can we expect a 14L OTR pricing for the Top end version of the S-Cross? I would be okay with 14.5L too given the Duster top end here costs 15.3L and the AWD duster costs 16.75L Quite a good threat for the duster.

Duster is overpriced . Renualt has milked their monopoly till now but with S Cross and iX 25 launches their party is going to end.

The S cross without AWD should be pretty competitive as Maruti knows that there is a lot of cross shopping between UV's and sedans in India.

I almost cosed a deal for a Duster AWD but its high price and lo rent interiors made me change my mind. Going in for a Safari Storme 4WD which seems tremendous value at 14.34 ( Ex Showroom Delhi)

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Maruti Suzuki gets back the TM - will retain it as S Cross. There will be no Maruti Suzuki in its badging will get the Suzuki logo. Rumored to be sold through the Nexa outlets in July.

Model name will be affixed on the left side and variant details on right side ( latest spy shots). Only Suzuki Logo will be there on the front grill, the rear tailgate and on all four wheels as hub caps. Engine badges will be seen on the front fender on both sides (like DDiS) and also on the right side of the tailgate(1.3 or 1.6).

No yet clear of Petrol variants at release( seeing the poor response in competition petrol varaints)

TM Authority has given the go ahead to Maruti to finally use the name, S-Cross for the upcoming vehicle

Absolutely HATE the chrome overload front grill. More of a facelift-type chrome application that Maruti seems to have done in the launch version itself. Prospective buyers - please set aside a few hundred rupees for some black tape!

Ground clearance seems so low and insufficient. This must be the first 4*4 with such a low ground clearance. Dont know what Maruti was thinking.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

I do not like the chrome grill at all. I do not why Maruti is so obsessed with Chrome lately. Even the side beading of Ciaz comes with Chrome.

The roof rail looks cheap in off white, black would be better. It seems the roof rail and skirting are accessories.

Otherwise, it looks good.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

In the images of the S-Cross seen in the internet, the front design looks really very awkward. A quirky design could prove to be the Achilles heel of an otherwise good package. We will have to wait and see if Maruti has made it look more palatable.

I checked the Renault site, and Duster Petrol is still available, starting at 8.3L ex-Delhi.

Source: https://www.renault.co.in/vehicles/p...er/prices.html

But I noticed some ad in a daily newspaper, saying it starts at 7.9L. May be with discounts.

As you mentioned, even though "Scross with a much better interiors, more equipment and MSIL service back up surely rake in the numbers", it is the macho look of Duster that attracts customers than anything else, IMO. SCross lacks that macho looks and to compensate it, SCross should be offered in a much lower price.

I was talking about the mid Petrol variant VXi, not about the top end Diesel.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

How to make a decent looking car awful?? Ask Maruti to design the front grille.

How the hell did they come up with such an uninspiring, boring, jarring, ugly looking chrome grille. For me, this grille makes the City's and Mobilio's grilles look classy.

The rear combi lamp has a lot of similarity with the Mobilio. However, the rear bumper also looks equally boring and bulky. The amount of black cladding overall looks over-done and ugly (not as bad as the Etios Cross though). i20 Active showed how it can be done beautifully. Loading lip is also pretty high.

Overall a very dull / neutral looking car made quite ugly by the chrome grille.
