Salute to your sources and ability to dig up the info. I have been tracking this car for months now and yet i missed this development.

Awesome awesome news! Jul would be sheer fun to watch how S Cross and ix25 pitch against each other.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Just before the unveiling of S Cross ( ACross) on 7th June at the 2015 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards where the specifications and launch details will be revealed, here is the summary of what could be the variants that will be offered.

Expect mild exterior changes over the European mode as seen in the spy shots. Variant offerings (Total) could follow the Ciaz pattern , maybe 7.

- Powertrain options will include the 1.6-litre diesel engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel as well. 1.6 will be offered on the top variant only in both petrol /diesel.

-The 1.4-litre K-Series petrol and transmission options will include a 5-speed and 6-speed manual(diesel).

- ACross will come loaded with features including projector headlamps, LED DRLs, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, start-stop button, keyless entry ,etc.

- The compact SUV will most likely be offered with All-Wheel Drive right from the start to take on the Renault Duster AWD.

- Base price expected to start at ~ 7.7 lakhs (ex showroom)

Excellent News! I am waiting for the launches to happen so that I can decide between Across, IX25, Duster and XUV500. I will be inclined towards whoever offers AWD and AT first. Duster and now XUV has missed on opportunity to offer AT while they have 4WD. Finally it may so happen that there may not be one single vehicle which may offer both, my guess is Across also will come with only 4wd while IX25 may offer only AT. In that case since all the 4 vehicles offer oodles of space (For me XUV is a 5 seater), the decision criteria will be power train and ride & handling. Definitely an interesting days ahead for customers looking for SUV on this side of 20Lakhs.

Well Volkman, does this mean the car will be called S-Cross itself?? If not, won't it be a publicity fail??

And yes, the starting price sounds tempting and the equipment list looks good too. However, the top of the line with 1.6 diesel will be touching 15 lakhs for sure. have to see how much success Maruti will get from this car especially with iX25 also waiting to be launched pretty soon.

Also to me, June 7 seems to be an after-thought hurry-bury advancement of launch date mainly to under cut iX25 (with a rumored unveil in June).

S Cross is still the name of the CUV in Malaysia and may be publicity for that market still holds good.
It could reveal the 'ACross' name for the Indian variant in the event. Don't think it will hamper the publicity of the CUV, rather could create a hype.

No the launch is not an after thought due to reasons mentioned by you, in fact it is delayed from the date speculated earler

Yes Volkman, I understand that the car is very well S-Cross in Malaysia. But the point is if all the ads in TV are going to spell out "Suzuki S-Cross IIFA" and if the Indian market gets a different name, wouldn't all the efforts be in vain? We informed BHP-ians know S-Cross and A-Cross are same. But the majority of TV watching junta might not know that. To correlate, majority of the buyers believed Celerio was the FIRST automatic car (i.e. car without clutch) in India - I have not one but MANY first hand experiences with people who thought so. With such people, the hype created now will be for S-Cross and product will be called A-Cross. Wouldn't that be a fail??

Oh, I did not know this. By the way, was this Maruti's official dates or Topgear speculated ones?? On a different note, if these are official dates from Maruti Suzuki, the Ceelerio diesel is pretty off target as well.

If they are 'watching' then they would surely recognize the car from the image, right?

Unless Maruti makes wholesale changes to the car that it is unidentifiable from its Malaysia version, it should not be a problem.

S-Cross or A-Cross it will all become 'Maruti Cross' once it is launched

Oh come on SchumiFan, I think I have still not made my point clear. I am not talking about the people who watch the launch - very very few would actually watch the car launch when telecast. The impact is made otherwise. How they make the brand or product stay in people mind is the number of times they spell out "Suzuki S-Cross IIFA - presented by Suzuki S-Cross, Co-sponsored by blah blah blah". That is where I was concerned - TV guys will tell Suzuki S-Cross some 100 times and the launched car will be called A-Cross. Wouldn't that confuse the people? I don't know, may be I am completely wrong here.

Yes, this is bound to happen and probably this is why Maruti Suzuki will not be worried

I guess we should wait for just over a week to know what the Cross is being baptized in India.
They could use both ACross and S Cross during the presentation

July is an interesting month- launches of Jazz, S/ACross, ix25 would certainly confuse the prospective buyers and put them in a dilemma!

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

I don't know who created A-Cross rumour. It always was S- Cross. Also, god knows where the Gasoline engine rumour came from. Again, it will be strictly diesel. Gasoline's only for export. Same is the case with Compact SUV as well. This is confirmed news heard from Suzuki engineers directly. Also, the S- Cross is the start of a long chain of launches culminating at next Ertiga in 2017. The likely sequence would be S-Cross, the YRA, followed by Compact SUV, the IM-4, next Swift , Next Dzire, next Wagon-R and next Ertiga. The next Alto ( same as JDM Alto with or without Same engine as JDM) would slot in somewhere in between. The sequence till IM-4 is fairly accurate as per me. Rest, I guess is educated guess considering product life cycle.

Just happen to see a sponsor ad in colours TV channel. The name S-Cross stands and it's expected soon.
Looks like Maruti is moving fast.

If we consider the price shown in zauba website as manufacturing price, and excise duty of 24%, the ex showroom price for top model should be around 10 lakhs. I am assuming that the model exported it's the top model with all bells and whistles

This is practically a Ciaz without boot which means the features might also be similar to Ciaz. So the price differences should be similar to Swift-Dzire which means top variant of 1.4P/1.3D should be around 9.5-9.75 ex-showroom. If a 1.6 diesel is on cards, it could very well be priced somewhere in 10.5-11L band.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Duster base petrol starts at 7.99L. Inorder to dethrone an established model, maruti should price the base petrol at 7-7.2L. A mere 10-20K difference with duster won't help Scross.

Swift vxi - 5L
Yra vxi - 5.5L
Yba vxi - 6L
Ertiga vxi - 6.5L
Ciaz vxi - 7L
Scross vxi - 7L
Vitara vxi - 8L

This would be a good lineup for maruti.
