re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

It would be great news for SUV lovers if Maruti manages to bring in an 4x4 compact petrol SUV,which is also fuel efficient. Unfortunately, right now, we have very limited choice in petrol 4x4. With narrowing price difference between petrol and diesel, development of fuel efficient petrol engines, it would be an success for Maruti to bring in such an product.

Hope they sell different variants and give the top end car. They shouldn't deny people who are ready to buy cars with good equipment.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Honestly, the 1.3 MJD will do the job for Maruti. It's more powerful than the 85 bhp duster, although it has lesser torque and has loads of Turbo-lag.

That's how MSIL run their business. Make a fuel efficient car which is VFM. And with the best service backup in the country.

I'm sure if this car has some efficiency figure like 24.xx kmpl, people will just run to Maruti showroom to buy this.

Enthusiast? Don't even look towards the Maruti Showroom.

Disappointed that there is no 1.6 diesel from Maruti even now. Hopefully it comes in the future.

Let us rest the speculation that ACross will not come with 1.6MJD.

Data shows Maruti has imported the considerable number of 1.6MJD recently from Italy, looks so for production. So we can confidently say the launch is nearing! A June-July launch seem possible.

Maruti Suzuki Across aka S-cross will also powered with 1.6 litre (121PS) fiat sourced engine.
Quote:
The S-Cross is an international spec crossover, which is already on sale in few non-Indian Markets, the India bound S-Cross will likely to be re-named to Across, with few noticeable change from its International counterpart. The Across is expected to top the sales charts in its segment, while Maruti is ready to lure its fans by launching the Crossover by end of June 2015.

spied the diesel version of the Maruti Across aka S-cross in 1.3 and 1.6 Liter variants. The spied images of the production ready crossovermight be an Export version carrying S-Cross badge on left side ( As Indian Version likely to be called Across, will carry Chrome strips on taillamp), 1.6 badge on right side which means the upcoming Maruti Premium Crossover will also powered by an 1.6 Liter diesel variant mated to a 6-speed gearbox, making 120HP. Massive! And also a 1.3 Litre D13 DDIS making 91HP also boxed to a 5-speed transmission

The front fascia packs the well-known logo of the brand. Embedded into the two-slat chrome grille finishing with HID projector headlamps. Daytime Running LED’s towards the sideways. Secondly, on the side you can find rugged looking skid-plates to avoid any kind of potential scratches while you hit the hard-road. It also stands a ground clearance of 180-200mm highe

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

That's good news! Also it looks like the name will remain S-Cross and not Across. The engine and transmission options will be the deal maker or breaker. The Fiat 1.6 MJD must be a stunning engine to drive with the kind of power and torque it produces. Looking forward to get my hands on it sometime soon.

I guess we can expect a 14L OTR for the top end here in Bangalore.

The alloy design (similar to new swift?) and the headlamp clusters seem to give an impression that this will be priced aggressively. It doesnt look the 11-14Lakh crossover that it was initially speculated to be.

Prices suggest that the Across basic diesel version could cost 8.9 Lakhs and for the ultimate 1.6 AWD at 13 Lakhs.

The one in the pic is a export model. So, S-Cross.

Nice paint job. The proportions and the shade reminds me of a certain BMW X1.

Mods, shouldn't the title be changed to 1.6 Ddis!

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

From what I know, DDiS is Maruti's way of naming their CRDi cars. So the engine can still be 1.6 hdi right ? How can we assume that it is from Fiat just because we saw the DDiS badge ? And going by the import data posted above, I don't think they will import an enormous number of engines if none of their cars are going to get it. So I still believe that it is the Peugeot engine. Any thoughts/arguments ?

The car looks nice. Hope the build quality is at par with the Europeans with no cost cutting done on the basic structure.

The origin of country states as Italy, so it is certain to be from Fiat.
