re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

With the launch confirmed for 25th, I am sure the dealers would have received their display cars as well. Need to give a call to the friendly neighbourhood dealer for a dekko

The facelift is overdue, and so is the automatic transmission. I wonder when that will get released for production. I do hope the AT comes across multiple trim levels , certainly would love to see an AT W6 as well as a W8 (and W10 now).

Looks like most of the features being offered are the ones that were present on the Xclusive edition. Voice messages is also present. New looks, interior changes, new infotainment system are the changes above and beyond existing xclusive edition. Hopefully the infotainment would be present across both W8 and W10. Lets see how significant is the change with suspension.

An anonymous source confirms these:

- Regenerative braking on the facelift model.

- Illumination on passenger and drive side vanity mirrors removed.

- 3rd row reading lamps removed.

- 2nd row seats have not been made the sliding type.

- Overall NVH improved.

- Suspension tuned for better comfort.

- Music system lacks CD slot.

- Instrument panel and centre console lighting is now in icy blue a la the new Scorpio.

- Position of USB and Aux. slots have been changed.

Unsure which all variants are affected.

* 3rd row reading lamps removed?
* Music player lacks CD slot?
How is it going to help? (cost-cutting would be the last reason for a car like this)
Other than aesthetic appeal any particular reason why Mahindra decided to switch to blue illumination from the red one?

re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

Spoke to sales lady from a showroom in Bangalore and this is what she said.
1) She herself has personally attended the training.
2) Vehicles will be available in showroom 3 days after the launch
3) Pre-booking with INR 50,000
4) Exclusive edition was launched earlier to check the response.
5) Both Engine and Suspension has undergone some minor tuning
6) Confirmed all the changes we know about W10.
7) They enquired about Automatic during the workshop, M&M completely ruled it out for reasons best known to them.
8)* They have been instructed not to offer any discounts on any of the latest variants - (W4 to W10) for next 6 to 12 months
9) She herself has seen the exterior changes in both W8 & W10.
10) (8) & (9) means the the facelift is happening on all variants with W10 coming with additional features.
11) She also said on her own that the quality of interiors (not just color) is improved.

Edit:
* Offers are only on the pieces left from pre-faceliftmodels

Going by the history it makes sense to buy a M&M only 6-12 months post any launch, by then the issues (long list on the original XUV 5OO) and bloopers (like the black strip on the refreshed Scorpio's back door) in first few batches would have been sorted out.

Could be cost cutting, every rupee saved is rupee earned.

- No reading lamps on the 3rd row should not make any difference (in my Scorpio I have never had the use of that light for the last 6+ years)
- No CD Slot - With the media players the latest things it is time for the CD's to also go the way of LP's & Cassettes. A USB anyways is more handy and has a better sound quality.
- The Blue illumination would look much better than red (personal preference)

+1 to that
With the XUV being just facelift this time, the niggles would definitely be lesser.
Hopefully, the chrome around the fog lamps would be an accessory else M&M may have to go the scorpio way after a couple of months after getting the "customer feedback"
M&M may come up with a new(better) texture for the dashboard.

re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

Additional details:
- No more knocking of seat belts on bumpy roads, they are adding a foam padding to prevent it.
- The side view mirrors will be given more gap to prevent the opening and closing sounds and also will add an illumination under them which will display "XUV500" branding on the ground (floor/road, etc).

I am pretty sure that regenerative braking is not going to make it to the facelift unless we are talking about the hybrid version of the XUV.

Totally agree with you. It's a feature in electric cars or hybrids. Where breaking is used to regenerate power to be saved in battery.

I dont think its just meant for electric & hybrids cars. The same feature is available on almost all BMW diesel & petrol models. Starting from 1 series

There are quite a few changes made to the car and up front, the new XUV500 will boast of
  • A new headlamp cluster;

  • A S-shaped LED day time running lights ;

  • An 'L-shaped' chrome-finished fog lamp enclosures which complete the changes made to the front;

  • A new alloy wheels on offer;

  • Some chrome-garnished registration plate enclosure;

  • A differently designed rear door too;

  • Mahindra though will add some new colours to the palette to make the look and feel on the inside a bit more upmarket.

  • However, there are changes made to the suspension which translates into better ride quality.

Very silly actually.

In that opening page, the contents before are ALL twisted to XUV 5OO.

Not sure they want to showcase!
