Went to Sireesh Auto, Bangalore and saw the W10 model in flesh and these are my impression.
1) Superb package combining style, size, elegance and feature rich.
2) looks best in the (new) white color
3) No one can complain on pricing
4) Interior look fab in Black and beige and all buttons on the console reminds me of Skoda (Complement)
5) For someone like me who is always dreaming of buying an Yeti, this looks best bet in the market
6) Three issues for me to go ahead and book.
a) No AT. Crying. Why?
b) 2nd Row seat doesn't have Fore-Aft slide adjust. There is so much real estate in 2nd row, some of it could have been used to free up space in 3rd row.
c) With all 3 rows up, we can hardly load laptop bag.

If you are going to forget that you have a 3rd row and take it to be a 5 seater only, it will put Terrano/Duster siblings, Yeti, Storme to shame. But then do you need such a huge 5 sweater w/o AT... Well I will decide after I see what Across and IX25 have to offer.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

Couple of Questions:
  • Inclusion of Sunroof - Does it mean that the conversation mirror is gone, to accomodate the Sunroof's controls ? We saw this in the limited edition
  • Do all exterior shades have the same black + beige interior layout or does it vary by color like the first gen model?
  • 5th Wheel - Alloy or steel ?

Comments from anyone is appreciated.

As far as I know, conversation mirror is indeed gone. Yes, the interior is similar now for all colour shades. Not too sure about the fifth wheel being an alloy or steel but had heard that post Jan 2015, all w8 models were provided with a steel spare. Cost cutting, eh?

Yes. Conversation mirror is gone in models with Sun roof and it's the same interior across all the models.

*Yes, the conversation mirror had to make way for sunroof. Its not present in W10 (absence of conversation mirror for W10 is specified in the brochure)

* All the exterior colours have the same interior of black & beige combination(Good job by Mahindra IMO as previously customers had to rule out few exterior colour options because of the interior's colour options) and black steering means less chances of getting soiled compared to beige.

*Sadly, 5th alloy is a steel.

Is it gone only in W10 model, or is it gone for models including W8, which does not have a sunroof - IF gone in W8 also - what is present where the conversation mirror was. Is it a dummy box, openable box or just fixed, immovable plastic ?

Re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

Had been to Anant Cars, Mysore road today. They had White W10 in display and a Silver W8 outside the showroom, my observations are below:

1. Beige Seats

Comparo pics between facelifted model and previous model (my car). New version looks more feminine, whereas the pre facelift model has more butch looks. No bias here

Personally, I din't like the new face-lift especially the beige interiors which tend to get dirty very soon. And the black interior looks very basic for a premium car.

I had booked the gen 1 w8 couple of weeks back and delayed delivery to check out the new one. Yesterday I checked the new one at gsp mahindra gurgaon, I did like the new head lights and the infotainment console. Rest changes I am neutral. Driving wise I did notice some improvements in suspension and NVH. The new crease lines om the bonnet are prominent while driving and you can see only these bulges of bonnet on both sides from inside which felt a bit odd.

Now the decision point: are these changes worth the 1 l premium I would have to pay for the new age w8? I could not compare side by side with the gen 1 hence could not Guage exactly what has improved and how much. When Can we expect the official review ?

Re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

A quick question,
1. With the new start button push positioning, am scared its within easy access of kids sitting in front seats when I am driving. As most kids have the habit of pushing random buttons on the dashboard ( or is it just my kid?). Will this lead to the car shutting the engine if I am driving and the brat pushes the stop button?

2. With the chrome steel strip lining the windows, will it be prone to getting "chatkas" when one rolls down windows and puts an arm outside in the peak of summer? ( bare skin on hot chrome steel)

Anyone can please let me know?

The location of the start/stop button is weird indeed. Usually it is located to the right of the steering wheel on the dash or on the steering column cover so only the driver has access to it.

Checked the car in person yesterday.

Interior texture quality will be a deal breaker for many and that too if top model hovers near 20lakhs this is not acceptable. Comparably Hyundai cars has better interior quality and Mahindra as a manufacturer should learn a thing or two.

Even I was wondering about this. Kids have a habit of pressing each and every button, knob, lever visible. It's not only your kid however every kid would do that

What would happen if the start/stop button is pressed when the car is moving? Can someone please share mode details?
