That is the exact reason for others too, just the opposite opinion though - The grey above is my new personal favourite, and before that it was red.

Having seen both the red and gold in person - I would say, red looks JTP-ready in comparison.

Grey looks neat and clean. Problem is grey looks just like any other cars from the competition (Baleno, i20, and Jazz) and does not stand out at all. One good thing is it hides that ugly unibrow at the front very well.

Is that the multi drive mode selector ?

Does it come with City and Eco mode like Tigor MT ?
Or, Sport and City mode like Tigor AT ?

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz. Edit: Launched at 5.29 lakh.

I had checked out the car a couple of days ago and spent around half an hour with it along with several service center people as the car had just arrived there.

A few points :
1. Looks stunning. Period.
2. Audio quality was also amazing.
3. They have moved the air filter assembly from the top of the engine to the left side of the engine bay. The service team were discussing that the older placement (tiago/tigor) resulted in more vibrations and they were told during training that it was moved to improve the NVH.
4. An added benefit i could see of this new positioning was that they have positioned the intake to be a cold air intake system. With the air filter now at a distance from the engine head, the intake air would not hear up and the air entry point is just behind the LHS headlamp unit.
5. Though the car uses the same 1.2 engine from TIAGO/TIGOR, they have a new head design with the exhaust manifold integrated into the head. This is quite similar to VW's TSI engines, who use it for faster engine warmup and for better regulated exhaust temperature as the engine coolant system passes around the in-built exhaust manifold. This may have several benefits including emissions and performance. Also, it may help in packaging for a turbocharger in the future as they have been able to free up space taken earlier by the exhaust manifold.
6. I heard them talking about a feature called Battery management system which ensures that the battery doesn't run out of juice during long start stop situations. It fires up the engine if it detects that the accessories like audio, headlights, ac fan etc have drained the battery below a certain level.
7. Lastly, While I didn't drive it, I did experience the engine vibrations while idling from the driver's seat, and it was significantly better than my Tiago. Kudos to the NVH team at TAMO.

I sincerely hope that the car does well in the market. Looks like it deserves to do so IMHO.

Just type "Tata car Dealers near me" in gmaps. It will give you the list nearby and then check on those listed in other posts.
