Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

Innova = mobile = Ertiga = Lodgy
Then
Fortuner = BRV = s-cross + 2 seats = Duster/ Terrano/ Creta + 2 seats

Figure the BRV pricing. Will they surprise us the right way?

When Maruti or Hyundai did not surprise us the right way, there is no way Honda is going to do so. I won't be surprised if they surprise us by competing with the Innova .

Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

In one word, a disappointment. Honda are going to have a hard time convincing customers about its SUV credentials. The low waist line, the large glass area and the longish proportions, put it in MPV territory. I fail to understand why Honda are hell bent on slapping that ugly grill on an otherwise decent looking face.

With all bigger dimensions and SUVish look., Honda will charge a minimum of 1lac more than the current mobilio.

Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

I just hope Honda fails miserably in all segments before they realize about the half hearted examples they are doling out. Other than City and Amaze, they are lagging all other segments.
Even globally, if you look at Acura and Honda combined, they are giving utter crap looking vehicles other than one or two segments. Not sure how long they will maintain the sales goodwill based on previous vehicles they sold.

On the contrary, I am grateful that at least there are some people who are still designing vehicles with WINDOWS.

Going by the current trends, it seems that soon we will be left with only narrow slits (like a tank) to view the outside world.

Very true. This car is a sure shot recipe for disaster. It has all the ingredients for another dud in making. And add to the fact that Honda will price it at "premium". Even the Creta with all its bells and whistles the general thought is the fact that it is premium priced. And we all know Honda.

I for one want this car to really fail. Otherwise the Indian public will be dumped with such half baked products and that too at a "premium" (wonder what is that!) pricing. This should be ideally called as the Mobilio Cross 'cos thats exactly what it is

Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

Really disappointed with this. I was waiting to see Honda's contribution to the segment before deciding on what to buy. They should have made a wider, better 5 seater rather than this Mobilio with a body kit. A new dash and instrument cluster would have helped a bit but the interiors look like deja vu.

Looks like an updated Duster AWD, hopefully available in a pure auto or AMT flavour would be the smartest choice

Typo? You missed a Zero after 1 :sly: Knowing honda, this would be priced 2 Lakhs above Creta. If it is a 7 Seater will be priced above xuv500. Any case close to 7-8 lakhs above Mobilio? What nect, they might call it as a "Perfect Premium SUV/MUV" ?

Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

BR-V is based on extended Jazz III platform and not Brio platform. That may be the reason width is more and interiors are more spacious.

Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

Honda BR-V launch in early 2016.

Quote:
The BR-V is based on the Brio platform and is a seven-seater, crossover recreational vehicle. It has a typical SUV like high ground clearance and a dynamic exterior design. The AC vents, the glovebox, the instrument cluster all are new, however, the steering wheel will be shared with other Brio family offerings like Amaze and Mobilio. Dimension wise the BR-V is 4455 mm long, 1735 mm wide and 1650 mm tall, with a 2660 mm-long wheelbase. Other relevant numbers include a 1500 mm front and rear track, as well as 200 mm of ground clearance.
Quote:
The BR-V will be fitted with a 1.5-litre petrol as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Thepetrol will have a six-speed manual transmission and CVT, while the 1.5-litre diesel will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission only. 16-inch alloys will be standard across all variants with 195/60 series tyres. The BR-V will also be equipped with projector headlamps, fog lamps, powered side mirrors and double blower air-conditioning. The second-row seats get a one-touch tumble feature, while the third row seats offer a 50:50 split and can be folded down.

As mentioned in the article, it looks a lot more proportionate from this angle as compared to the ones we saw in the auto-shows.

Re: Honda BR-V: The Brio-based SUV

Honda BR-V India production to start in April 2016, with an initial yearly production capacity of 36,000 units.

To come with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines; will get seven seats.

Quote:
The BR-V could be powered by a bigger 1.6-litre diesel engine, which will also power Honda’s new crop of vehicles. Globally, Honda has already developed a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine for its latest Europe-spec CR-V. However, it is unclear if the BR-V will get the same powerplant.
The petrol BR-V will be fitted with the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine.
