I think I saw an RS Laura last week in Mumbai...the alloys looked beautiful. Almost similar to those of the beemers. and it wasn't just a makeup job, it was an RS
There are no Laura RS in Mumbai . There are 3 Lauras running around with an RS kit including the VRS badging . Period.
I somehow disagree, can you tell me the color of the 3 laura's running on the kit?

Hey dippy ,please share the source of ur info. as far as i know both petrol and the diesel versions will be launched this very same year ,before the launch of the Fabia .
Called up the phone numbers posted on the Skoda India web site last week. They confirmed what Dippy said. Fabia launch December 2007. RS not before 2009. 2.0 diesel could make an appearance on the Lolla mid to end 2008. At least thats what the guy I spoke to said.
I hope its not true cos if my cousin comes 2 know bout this he will not be able to digest this . Shuvd , do you really think we should trust these co guys who are always tightlipped about their future products and how convinced you were after talking to that guy ??
@amtak,
there is no Skoda Laura vRS in India.
Showrooms such as JMD are offering the Laura Kit and all as an accessory.
I have seen 2 - 3 of these kitted cars. One is light Blue, the other is Red and i think the third is white or something. I am not sure as i didn't get to see the car properly.
My cousin had a word with a Skoda Official last week and it was confirmed that the Diesel Vrs is NOT coming to India this year(maybe somewhere in 2008) but the Petrol vRS and Elegance DSG will be launched in the last quarter of this year .
This year line up :
1) Laura petrol vRS
2) Laura Elegance DSG
3) Skoda Fabia .

Walked in to TAFE on sat, they literally bit my hand off showed me an RS and a Laura and sat me in front of the showroom manager. Boy they are desperate.
"Discount ? "
"No sir, we do not give, - we giving 3 year free service worth 60k"
"my honda has not required even 30k in 5 years!"
"german car sir!"
They took my details but frankly the cars are overpriced
RS is Rs 16 L on road - think of the money down the drain
1.8 TPI is Rs 13L on road - A magnum with a tuning box will lick it
These guys are really in a corner - highly priced, competent but now obsolete cars. They can get away with the Laura but only just!!!
Surprisingly many a Laura's on the road in bangalore. I don't see the new elegance version only the 19L L&K or the 20L DSG.

Exactly.. Been seeing a lot on the road.. It seems to be attracting a community that wants the best luxury interiors, great diesel FE and still not attract too much attention. I cant seem to find any other vehicle that offers this combination.

Bingo!! Very accurate profiling! Btw, I was told by the service manager (not the showroom folks) that they had expected to sell a max 30 units a month but they are selling about 150 units a month (maybe all Skodas combined) in Bangalore. Their service facility is pretty dingy and shocking - with a 2 week waiting period for the service appointment.
Not many takers for elegance because once you decide to buy the Laura, L&K is the one to go for (lot of extras). I also heard one more Skoda dealership is coming up in B'lore.

Difference for xenon lights, leather seats, sunroof, oompah stereo, more airbags is about a lakh and a bit so why not stump up. The elegance wheels look better though.
Still the difference between a tpi and an RS is too vast compared to above
