SLK, aren't you the one that came up with different designs for the Baleno's rear in the Baleno-IRL thread ? Maybe I am wrong.

Probably, for the first six months after the Swift (Fiat) diesel comes out, they'll have their order books full. After that, Maruti can think of creative ways such as plonking the 1.3 multijet Fiat diesel engine into the Baleno. The Baleno has lesser kerb weight than the Swift and more than enough space in the engine bay to accommodate the 1.3 engine. Sure, they have to make gearing changes. The tourist brigade would love to have a car of the size of Baleno with the frugality of diesel engines, plus the reliability of this much renowned engine.

Would that be sacrilege to think of plonking the multijet diesel engine into the Baleno?

In France Suzuki sold a Suzuki Baleno 1.9TD GLX 4-door sedan.
It came with a Peugeot XD 1905 cc turbodiesel engine,
that developed Power=75 bhp @ 4600 rpm and Torque=135 Nm @ 2250 rpm.
Fuel mileage was 11 km/litre in the city and 16.1 km/litre on the autoroute (highway).
Airbags were standard and ABS was optional.

Think again.
I've been observing a shift towards alternate fuels from diesel in the minds of the public.

Well now with the verna coming in, this option certainly wont do... But its pathetic that a 1.9 turbodiesel churns out only 75 horses with an even terrible mileage of 11 kmpl... any reason OR the car bombed....???

as said by navvendhyani, this new design is very bad for a baleno lover.
The present baleno looks very good. I do gaga over it when ever I see this on the road.
I was thinking of upgrading to baleno, now I am worried what would happen once this new model is gonna be realsed.
I am sure the prices of the old baleno will drop drastically. Thats too bad.

IMHO the current baleno is far better than this one and they should continue the current one and release the other with a new brand name....

I like my OB, I love my OB - who cares what else comes out, the OB gives that rush one cannot duplicate in any other car for the price. And for looks - hey the new one is just plain ugly, there's no other word for it.

The new baleno will looks better in person is my thought. Design cues are taken from Infiniti/Nissan and strecthed to corolla.

Should do well and the main competiter will be NHC. lets see who survives.
