Mahindra unveils KUV100 compact SUV. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.42 lakh (ex-Pune)

Webcast is on and there was a mention on Gasolines, so I am not sure if Mahindra is thinking about a CNG version of this SUV.

And this SUV is mainly targeted to youths who has aspirations for an SUV but compromise on them because of some or the other reason.

Let's see how it comes out

Information on the new Engines:

Petrol Engine:

mFalcon G80 - 82bhp @ 5500rpm, 114NM torque @ 3500-3800rpm

Diesel Engine:

mFalcon D75 - 77bhp @ 3750rpm, 190Nm torque @1750rpm

KUV1OO will be launched on Jan 15th, 2016 and booking starts tomorrow.

Has Base, Mid Range, High Range and Top Range version with badging K2, K4, K6 & K8. All with safety features with base variants having as optional.

Similar to TUV 3OO, all variants will have safety package (Airbags) as optional.

ABS is standard across all variants!

Nice one Mahindra!

They are stressing that it's an SUV and not a premium hatchback. They are going all out on stressing that point.

This is excellent news! Safety features, at least as optional, on all variants is a really welcome move.

Any news on the approx. pricing and if the diesel will be a 3 pot one (similar to TUV)? Not able to open the video for some reason from office.

Looks far far better than TUV300! Should attract huge bookings and pose major challange to all Crosses IMO. I think the competition in compact SUVs will get fierce in coming months.

Looks butch and definitely has SUV features; not an hatchback for sure.

The roof and the rear end seems to give impression of Ritz though.

The front looks like a Mini XUV. Still, it looks more of a hatchback on steroids rather than a Suv. Perception may change after seeing the rear end and better quality pics. Also, so far engines are quite OK and nothing special about them.
Definitely better looking than TUV.

I don't know why but I have a really good feeling about this car!! After the Chennai floods here, I realized the importance of a high GC when it comes to wading through water logged areas and this car also looks good!

If it is priced right, I think the car will be a spectacular success!! Hope Mahindra took in a load of inputs from Pinanfarina in designing the interiors. And I hope that the Diesel engine is decent as well.

The front has taken more than an inspiration from Range Rover Evoque. I still cant fathom why Mahindra puts positively tiny tyres on largish bodies. Overall looks decent though.

For the butch design, I personally find the tires one size too small. May be with real life pics they would look better. Whats the opinion on the current size? R15?

Looks pretty Kool to me. Would have loved it they'd have offered AMT.

Ground clearance and higher stance is anyhow very useful in todays city traffic. Higher it is better view it gets. Now all depends on the price.
