Disappointed with the alloy design. At least RS version should have been provided some hot wheels. Just a bumper lip, some cladding and badging, either Maruti had done half baked Job or i was expecting much ..

What happened to the new alloys the RS was supposed to get?

RS in India was always shown with blackened out version of current alloys. They had also displayed the same in Auto Expo.

The alloys which was seen on the test mules are probably available as accessories. This was spotted by my friend once at a NEXA showroom.

Rear disc brakes confirmed? Looks like it is, from the pictures.

More of the speculated features might be confirmed (for presence or absence) as the launch date approaches.

Are those alloys black due to the formulation of the alloy, or are they just regular alloys painted black? If the latter, how long is that finish going to last on our roads?

Looking at the pictures, it looks like they have been spray painted or something. The finish does not look good at all.

Not sure of the longevity of it though!

Thanks for the Pics Naren!

The Front bumper looks nice. The mesh grill would have looked much better without Chrome strip.

IMHO, rear bumper looks gawdy. Looks too cheap.

I feel they could have added the existing Sporty body kit that's provided as an accessory as a standard fitment in the RS. That would have given a complete Sporty look

Else, they could have retained the existing bumper and painted the bottom portion in black to give that Diffuser look

Here's how I have done in my Baleno Zeta CVT.

From a pricing standpoint, I hope Maruti doesn't price Baleno RS ridiculously just like the way they launched S-Cross 1.6.

Is it just me or what is with that huge amounts of chrome on cars these days? It looks so out of place, excessive and gaudy. Chrome looks even more horrible on sporty designs like baleno or verna or even the honda city. Only cars that can carry around decent amounts of chrome are mature designed ones like maybe a vento or a rapid or a linea. Baleno looked much better earlier, especially the red one with that chrome looks so distasteful.

That's a pretty half hearted job on the exterior design for the RS. While the subtle body kit is good, the presence of chrome with the body kit and the RS badging is just terrible to put it mildly.

The door handles, window strip and that huge chrome strip at the rear should have been done away with. The door handles should be body coloured, window strip blackened out or matte finish and the rear chrome strip should be black.

To top it off the chrome door handles and window beading don't go with the blackened door frame at all. Earlier only B pillar of door was blackened and in the RS they have blacked entire window frame but it's a total clash with the chrome.

Jeez Maruti, couldn't you have gone the whole hog and given some sporty alloys while at it.

Nope!!

Even the normal Baleno comes with fully blackened window frame. Look at the pic of my Baleno clicked after delivery

+1 Highh5 and I think my vote goes for the former:

Maruti had done half baked Job

This is the reason why Maruti can never (most likely ever) be seen as a premium brand. Their so called "Limited Editions" are truly a showcase of Limited Brain cells of the marketing team.

When the initial GTs (1.2 & 1.6) were launched, many buyers had criticised VW for giving little or no difference between these performance variants and the regular Polo's.
Though not by a lot, VW immediately addressed this concern and the GTs of today are TRULY unique and even a complete noob can distinguish the variants.

Just when I had started to believe that Maruti is quite serious about the RS offering, these jerks come with a road side aftermarket add-on sorts.

Its not like the OEM design of the Baleno rims are so good that just painting them black will change everything. Just to rub it in, Maruti have also gone ahead and Detuned the 1.0 Turbojet for Indian RS version.

Baleno RS was really one opportunity to go all out with the Sporty offerings, which IMO is LOST!!

If I am not wrong, the mechanicals of the GTs are exactly same as the normal variants but for the change in the engines.

Maruti might have added some cheesy looking add-ons but no one can deny the fact that it comes with an engine that is great on specs. Coupled with a car that is already good on dynamics with a great engine to boot as well, it truly will be an RS variant no matter how poor the car looks from the outside.

So let's be a little less harsh on a mainstream manufacturer and be happy that they are venturing into Turbo petrols a lot ahead than their established rivals (Honda, Toyota, Hyundai etc). It comes with a rear-disc setup as well unlike the VW

Surely this is not as mean as an RS version should be.
