Wishful thinking.

With their current sales success and future product planning, a BoF SUV/MUV maybe the last thing Tata would make. Tata is kinda overcompensating for their 2000s taxi image.

Only wish they launch an MPV in either the Alfa or Omega platform.

I had Omega in mind. Its all wheel drive ready. Though, not body on frame, but the platform's Land Rover genes and their expertise should make it a capable offroader.

Hyundai and Tata Motors the war between rank 2 and rank 3 and how has their contribution been shaping up over the last 11 months.

Hyundai's volume from April 21 to February 22 - 4,36,900 units. Monthly average of about 39,718 units.

Tata Motors volume in the same time period - 3,28,083 units. Monthly average of about 29,826 units.

Hyundai lead over Tata Motors was as high as 23,906 units in April. In December Tata Motors was able to take over Hyundai for the first time in a long time.



Hyundai's year started with close to the 50k mark in April. Tata Motors has managed to register stable growth Month after month, which eventually has started moving towards the 40,000 mark.



Hyundai did have a great start in the first quarter and on its way for a 20% market share. Since Quarter two The trend turned towards falling market share.



In Q1 Tata motors touching close to a double digit mark. In Q2 surpasses the double digit mark.

Tata motors even overtake Hyundai in the month of December.



Close to 45% of Hyundai's volume comes from Venue and Creta.



Nexon is the highest contributor for Tata Motors

The gap is narrowing between Tata and Hyundai. While Hyundai continues to occupy the second position in March 2022 with domestic sales of 44,600, Tata Motors is breathing down its neck. A difference of just over 2,300 without having a Creta competitor in its portfolio! Well done Tata, way to go!

42k+ cars in a month is not a joke, hats off to the entire team behind Tata motors. They are giving us reliable products, people have understood this and the sales are a testimony. How frequently you see tiagos and nexons broken down along highways? negligible! thats how tata cars have built a reputation.

Indeed appreciation worthy, add to that Nexon Coupe, Punch and Altroz EV, Nexon EV & Tigor EV extended range, Petrol Versions of Harrier and Safari. Altroz based Sedan and a Sierra reborn, with all these Tata can infact hope to hit 60K monthly cars. But they need to be on their toes. Tata motors should bring all these cars in the next one and a half year and look at how the market goes crazy.

I remember many fellow members of this forum predicting Tata's new found acceptance is short lived and soon KIA will overtake it. Note that this was when Tata fought with Mahindra and KIA for the 4th position. Now very proud to see the company challenging mighty Hyundai for 2nd position!

Hopefully the DCA should infuse some numbers in Altroz sales going ahead. For comparison, March sales of competing hatches in the same segment,

Baleno: 14,520
i20: 4693

Other than Baleno, every other car in this segment seems to be affected by the current preference for CSUVs. This is especially true for the i20 which used to do 10-12k units a month earlier.

Gorgeous, as we have seen from the Nexon, Altroz, Punch concept launches, Tata has been highly successful in staying true to the original design with the production versions.

Make no mistake; at the same time as TML is looking to increase volumes, there's a definite effort to push the brand upmarket.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but sincerely hope their sales and especially service network also up their game to keep the customer base happy.

Curve is an impressive effort! M&M and Tata are really upping the domestic game, proud.
