I usually prefer the hatch over the respective compact sedans. But here for a change the Tigor looks better. Well done TATA.

Sub 10s 0-100 timing is awesome on a sub 10L car. The heart has always been Tigor's weak link. With that sorted in JTP hopefully we will see this one gain more traction in the market.

P.S: All 4 disc brakes should have been considered.

The engine power figures posted by TATA do not add up.
If the engine has to make 114 PS/112.44 BHP @ 5000 RPM, it has to have around 160 Nm at that speed. However, Tata says 150 Nm ends at 4000 RPM. Which means torque will be lesser at 5000 RPM. If 150 Nm is delivered all the way till the point of peak power, then that point will be 5336 RPM. Being more realistic, the torque will be below peak at peak power, which means, the peak power should be above 5400 RPM.

Assuming that the acceleration figures quoted by Tata are true and considering the fact that Tiago is heavier than the Baleno RS, I'm guessing that Tata has underrated the power figures a little.

PS Whatever it is, big thumbs up to Tata for doing what the top Asian companies didn't (shame on you, Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda). Hoping that this would sell well and pave way for much more brutal versions in the future.

I for one am very very happy how these vehicles have turned out. Only one sore point I can see in the specifications sheet is that rear brakes are drum.

Tata is coming out all guns blazing oflate! I’m pretty much happy with their current vision.

Latest images of Tiago JTP have made me drool all over it and they look absolutely stunning. I would place my bet on these hot looking small hatch over any cars above it’s segment. Just waiting on it’s performance review from our mods

I’m hoping my wife learns to drive in the next one or two years so that I can slot in first gear towards Tiago JTP as a secondary car.

Tata Tiago JTP, Tigor JTP bookings open

Booking amount for production-spec Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP has been set at Rs 11,000.

Deliveries of the JTPs will only commence next month as dealers are yet to receive stock. However, buyers who book the car now will be eligible for priority delivery.

Good point.

However, if that is the only performance/handling upgrade needed, then it is an acceptable compromise - enthusiasts can easily change it to a brand, compound and size of their preference. Better the tyres are the weakest point in the package, than - say - the suspension, or steering.
