Fantastic pricing by Tata especially for Tiago JTP. 6.39 lakhs for a car with 0-100 timing of 9.95 seconds . Fastest car under 10 lakhs ? I believe Figo Diesel is slightly slower.

VFM pricing by Tata. The Tiago's pricing undercuts Swift ZXI. Whereas in performance it rivals the Baleno RS and Polo GT TSI.

The 11 cities mentioned doesn't include mine but I'm a bit confused here. Does it mean that I'll not be able to test drive or take a look at the display model in my city or I'll not be able to purchase it altogether from my nearest TATA dealer?
If it's the latter then what's stopping TATA to dispatch a new car to my city even on an order basis?

Kerb weights are 1016 for the Tiago and 1051 for the Tigor JTP.

This gives them a power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios of 110 BHP / ton, 148 Nm / ton and 107 BHP / ton, 143 Nm / ton.

You might be looking at the weight of the diesel Tiago. JTP is a good 70 or so kg heavier than the regular Tiago.

1. It seems the JTP versions do away with the drive mode selector. It is not mentioned anywhere.

2. Peak torque coming at 2000 RPM. hope it is not dead below the 2000 RPM mark. Would be a pain to drive in city traffic otherwise.

3. Though the dealer count is likely to gradually increase, it should have been much more than what it is to start with.

4. An aggressive marketing and promotion campaign is needed to drive home the advantage of JTP twins. Especially for Tigor, Tata motors should discontinue the base Tigor model and sell JTP model through all outlets. That car has all the potential to seriously dent Dzire sales.

The good thing is they have just one variant for both versions and both are on the top variant! And just two colors to opt from, either the white or the red. I like the Tiago in Red and the Tigor in White.


I see the Ex Delhi price of the Tiago XZ (normal variant) as 5.21L.. So, it's a 1.2L over the regular variant? Would have loved to see it capped at the 1L barrier.

The website as well as the auto news sites all mention that the JTP twins come with Sports and City modes. The exact power and torque difference in City mode is not disclosed yet.

Tiago XB variant weighs 930 kg while XZ variant weighs 1012 kg. Compared to XZ variant, JTP weighs only 4 kg more, which I think is quite good considering there is extra weight of turbo, intercooler and all the plumbing.

Wonderful. These two cars have no competition anywhere near for the kind of punch on offer on paper at these prices. Aspire petrol automatic, maybe though little far off on price.

These might be able to draw people opting for a Abarth punto or a GT polo only in small numbers, unless these provide the thrills that appeals to an enthusiast (leaving out the price factor). Also it is unknown if this 5 speed MT on the revotron can take more than 150 NM of troque leaving room for modifications.

But, at this price point looks like Baleno RS (@ 8.65L ex-bangalore) will surely get a big hit now.

Leaving out the enthusiasts it might even draw people going in for petrol variants of respective segments & higher, if the ARAI mileage figures are on a higher side.

I believe TATA too should take more focus on providing/advertising on cost effectiveness of ownership like what FORD does these days.

Asking for ESP,TCS & Six airbags is too much ? Ford has spoiled us.
