So guys latest news on Engine this time.

Its confirmed. New XUV 5oo will be coming with 155 Bhp and 360 NM Torque and not 170 Bhp as speculated earlier.

That`s disappointing, we were more interested in the engine upgrade rather than the cosmetic changes. Will have to take a proper test drive and decide.

Called our old sales rep and he confirmed the launch is on 18th. He also said the price will increase slightly and the engine has been re-tuned.

Lot of good bits on the new car, but being a 2012 XUV5OO owner, I do not think that there aren't any considerable changes worth waiting for compared to the changes it had in the current version to older version.

1. Tail Lamps - deserved a change / upgrade - not so happy with the way they have gone with this upgrade. Will have to wait to comment until I see them on the road.

2. Headlamps - XUV5OO needs to get rid of the stock Halogens within the projectors than restyling. Wish this boy 2018 could come with LED stocks.

3. DRL - Trust this is bright enough to identify and hope not like the Creta or S cross. It would be great if they had Audi like illumination and also the same color tone.

4. Grille - No comments, I hope the chrome there are all accessories and not stock - for this model.

5. Dashboard - Whatever material they use - hope they do not reflect so much into the windshield now.

6. Infotainment - Larger screen would have helped - the layout is almost six years old now - could have spend some time on that area to change the way it looks to accommodate a larger screen and an ergonomic layout.

7. Gear Knob : Loved the current layout of finish where Matte Silver finish is on top while the rest taks the bottom, where it was totally the other way round in the previous model. Fingers crossed on the quality of the silver paint, as they are prone to wear.

NOTE : The handbrake and Arm Rest looks the same as in 2012 do not know more about the change.

8. On board electronics : Wish the new update also include stable electronics and also has some easier ways to manage Tyretronics after wheel rotations. The TPMS on my car was not the best.

9. Audio : Not sure how many have noticed - but some real improvement in this area is a must as HCX, HEXA, Nexon all come with the best in the segment. In comparison to the Audio system in my Ecosport - the Nippon sourced one in XUV needs some change - refreshment.

10. Engine : No complaints and quite happy with the way my car has been driving on stock - any improvement is always welcome.

Here's more comprehensive info on the XUV500 facelift (exclusive to Team-BHP), courtesy one of my birdies:

- Power upgraded to 155HP (+15HP), with Torque upgraded to 360Nm (+30Nm).
- To be available in 5 variants - W5, W7, W9, W11 and W11 (Optional).
- Automatic option will be offered on W7, W9, W11 and W11 (Opt) variants.
- AWD Automatic will be offered on the top W11 (Opt) variant.
- To be offered in 7 colour shades - White, Silver, Brown, Purple, Black, a new shade of Red and a new Copper shade (similar to the earlier Sunset Orange shade looks-wise, which is now discontinued along with the Dolphin Grey shade).

Some details of each variant -

W5:W7: (in addition to W5)W9: (in addition to W7)W11: (in addition to W9)More details awaited.

So if leather dash is only W11 onwards do lower variants have current dash quality or is there an improvement?

More details awaited.

The already not so good ride over bad roads will further suffer. I wish to know, what is there in the O [option] list in W11, will wait for your scooped news :)

Praying that the chrome overdose on the front is only on the W11 option pack. W7 (hopefully with AT) should sell well, decent feature list

As per ACI 155 HP is limited to only W11 variants. Lower variants will come with 140HP.
New 155HP engine details below and looks like it is more fuel efficient than 140HP tune.

Again, yes. Under the hood, the XUV500 gets a power upgrade too. The 2.2-litre diesel now delivers 155hp at 3,750rpm and 360Nm of torque at 1,750-2,800rpm on the top-spec variant. The engine gets a new sixth-gen turbocharger along with new ‘eVGT’ technology that works according to the ECU signals and acceleration. This motor delivers a fuel efficiency figure 15.4kpl as tested by ARAI. The lesser variants however, are likely to continue with the 140hp version which gives 15.1kpl (4X2 variant). Mahindra will also sell the recently introduced 140hp 2.2-litre petrol motor on the XUV500.

Hmmm, I was considering the lower trims W7 or W9 in AT form - If there is no tangible benefit, i would rather avoid that chrome overdose and pick existing XUV500. Any idea how is the discounts on existing stock ?

Somehow in the pic below, front grill does not look that bad. I guess it will take some time to get used to, just like when originally XUV came into life. Leather dash too looks neat.

Real sad part is that they did not add LED's, forget HID's, in the headlights when even they know that lower beam in XUV has been a pain area from day 1. Why Mahindra why. Charge extra from customer if you want and add LED's for god sake atleast in lower beams.

All the features are already present in current XUV so really cant make-out whats extra. I hope sunroof is not the part of Optional. Atleast have that in W9 as well like in current XUV.

These are the latest pics I have received via WhatsApp from gautamachar99.

Note that the side profile has minor changes like the newly added chrome strip at the bottom.
The 18 inch alloys look good and fill the wheel arches better than the previously offered 17 inchers but the ride quality will suffer.
IMO the rear looks are disappointing with the taillamps looking like an afterthought!

Grille seems to be inspired by KIA!

19" alloys look great. Also, notice the new rear spoiler!

The rear spoiler looks like a direct lift from the Scorpio. IMHO looks like an afterthought as well.

TUV 300+ with body coloured bumpers also at the dealer stockyard. Possibly the P6 variant?

Had not liked the new design initially, but it doesn't look all that bad in these images. Infact, it looks very modern and a bit Japanese (especially the rear).

The panel gaps and the paint quality also seems to be much better, or is that just an illusion?

I guess unlike most other cars which flaunt a love it or hate it design, the new XUV flaunts a design which is more like an acquired taste. The more you see, you get used to it and start appreciating. :P
