Its even entering a segment which hardly sells in decent numbers.
I haven't mentioned that it will have class leading sales figures. If you look at the last 6 months sales Ford is selling around 3k Figo and Aspire combined. If Freestyle and the updated Figo and Aspire are going to take this number to 4k, it will mean increased numbers for Ford.
Ford in India has always been one trick pony and they are not learning.

Earlier:
++ Build quality, handling
-- Power, Service Costs

Now
++ Great Power, Lower service costs
-- Lower build quality and handling, low on features, jiggling of features and variants (Ecosport and Endeavor)

In Freestyle they should have given rear view camera and a better quality dashboard, but it's Ford. It's the complete package that clicks.

Ford Freestyle official website goes live

Thanks to Faizal Hala for sending the information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs-freestyle3.jpg

The Ford Freestyle was unveiled back in January 2018. The Figo-based compact utility vehicle (CUV) has now been listed on Ford India's official website. The Freestyle will be available in four variants - Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+ as well as two engine options. Pricing is expected to be announced at a later date.

The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs-freestyle2.jpg

The Ford Freestyle shares its platform with the Figo hatchback. It measures 3,954 mm in overall length, 1,737 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,490 mm. The Freestyle has a 257-litre boot and it comes with a 40 / 42-litre fuel tank depending on the choice of engine.

In terms of it’s styling, the Freestyle gets a blacked-out mesh grille in the front flanked by a pair of smoked headlights. The dual-tone front bumper is new and features a large air dam with an integrated silver scuff plate and C-shaped fog lamp pods. The car comes with a black body kit. The Freestyle gets blacked-out ORVMs with integrated turn signals, blacked-out B-pillars and silver roof rails. The rear features a roof spoiler and redesigned bumper with a silver scuff plate.

The Freestyle gets a dual-tone dashboard with a centrally mounted 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It comes with a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with gloss black trim and a 3-pod instrument cluster. The car gets chrome bezels around the circular air-conditioning vents and chrome door handles. The hand rest has brown trim to match the dashboard, while the seats gets fabric upholstery with a horizontal pattern.

In terms of features, the touchscreen infotainment system is available on all variants except for the base Ambiente trim, while SYNC3 with voice control, mobile navigation with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with steering mounted audio and phone controls is offered on the top-spec Titanium+ variant only. Features like automatic climate control, electric ORVMs, height adjustable driver seat, rear washer, wiper and defogger are available only on the top 2 trim levels. Further, the Titanium+ variant gets automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and Ford MyKey.

Safety features like ABS with EBD, front dual airbags (Titanium+ gets additional side and curtain airbags), seat belt reminder and high-speed warning and reverse parking sensors are standard on all variants. The top 3 variants get front and rear fog lamps along with rear view camera. Active Rollover Protection, which comprises of hill launch assist (HLA), ESP and traction control is available on the Titanium and Titanium+ trims.

The two engine options include a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine which makes 95BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 120 Nm of torque @ 4,250 rpm as well as a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel which has been carried over from the Figo hatchback. It makes 99 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 215 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. Both engines come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Ambiente and Trend variants get 15-inch steel wheels, while the Titanium range rides on 15-inch alloys shod with 185/60 R15 tyres.

The Ford Freestyle comes in 6 colour options - Canyon Ridge, Smoke Grey, Moondust Silver, White Gold, Oxford White and Absolute Black. Ford is also offering a few personalization options for customers, which include body stripe kit and roof wrap as well as leather seat covers.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

Called the Freestyle, the brochure seems to convey that the product is aimed at the younger generation of buyers.

BUT, the choice of colors for a product that Ford wants market as 'COOL', is pathetic. The choice of colors all look so dull on the car and none of them seem to compliment the looks.

Where is the Lightning Blue or the Race Red in it?

I have always liked the figo's petrol engine, driving and handling dynamics. If this manages to retain or even augment that, it's a decent proposition, one I'll consider for a TD.

Looks like Ford India heard you. All models except the base variant have Rear Camera and Touchscreen Infotainment System. While Parking Sensors are standard from the base variant. The problem which buyers had in Figo twins about fitting parking sensors and cameras from outside and voiding the warranty is now solved. The base variant is pretty feature loaded compared to so many other cars. But I would still want to buy a Titanium variant at least rather than the other 3, it ticks most of the boxes. 190mm Ground Clearance is good enough for most Indian roads.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

Well I can see some converts from the Figo sales to Freestyle. It's not a very exciting version in my opinion. But you can't blame Ford for trying. This is not what the consumers want from Ford though. There is no point emphasizing the same, because Ford is hell bent on not listening to the customers. Hope their proposed alliance with Mahindra yield better dividends.

Sometimes I wish these car makers do read the threads on Team-bhp, without their rose tinted glasses! Common sense still counts better than most business school degrees. After you realize your business school ideas don't work, one has to at least use common sense rather than continue knocking on the wrong door.

A bold try from Ford despite knowing the fate of Cross Polo, i20 Active, Etios Cross.
And unless its priced significantly lesser than the Ecosport, I don't think there are reasons to buy it over the much appreciated Ecosport.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

By not offering an AT during the launch, Ford is losing a big chance to increase their customer base. The product individually looks promising and appealing with a lot of features loaded from the base variant itself.

Many a folk put off by waiting times of Swift/Baleno might consider Freestyle now. Had they introduced this car with an automatic, they could have even enticed some automatic customers of Swift in queue.

I believe Ford wants to assess the market response before releasing an automatic. Could backfire.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

The site proclaims "India's first CUV" - so to get the claim of "first something" its easiest to invent a new category, eh, Ford? Hyundai, Toyota, VW have all been here, done that!

That said, looking forward to official of what AT will come with the Freestyle and the facelifted Figo - will it be an admission that the dual-clutch foray has failed and they switch over to a reliable TC?
