| ![]() The wait is fine, if they come with crash test results as soon as it is launched, like in the case of Thar. Launch these twins with 5-star safety and Mahindra is probably set for another decade till electric cars become the norm. Compared to Tata, Mahindra may not have trouble getting the 5 star safety because the engines are in-house and they may be already designed with right-hand drive 5 star safety in mind. It is a race now. If Harrier-Safari gets 5-star safety earlier than M&M twins, they get the first mover advantage. Last edited by padmrajravi : 4th February 2021 at 10:31. |

| ![]() If I was Mahindra I will stage a spy pic to steal some thunder from new Safari launch and put the initial buyers in two minds. |

| ![]() Quote: Is it the camera angle or my eyes are playing a trick, but there seems to be just one single wiper? Stance of the car is not very clear from the pics but seems it might loose the current generation's aggressive look. | |

| ![]() There are also reports of the new XUV 500 coming with a mild hybrid option but at later date (after a year of it's launch?) |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Mahindra has been testing the 2nd Gen XUV since eternity. The only thing they are testing now is our patience. I guess they are going to start making moves after the pricing of the Safari is out. Quote:
Here are some latest pics of the XUV alongside the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and a Nexon. This looks like it could be close to the final ride height and the stance looks pretty good. ![]() ![]() But yes, the car has lost quite a bit of muscle from the sides. The current gen, IMO, has a very plain side profile and its those bulging wheel arches and muscular shoulders that give it character. But it is a bit extreme and is not everyone's cup of tea. Now, even though the 2nd Gen looses this muscle, it seems more mature now and I feel it will please a wider range of people. ![]() IMO, the XUV is not a photogenic vehicle. One thing that the original 2011 XUV thread has taught me is to never judge the looks and stance of a car from the pictures. I remember not liking the looks of the car when it was unveiled and the pics were out on that thread. But one visit to the showroom and my mind instantly changed. ![]() Can't wait to see how Mahindra have designed the car this time around. On a side note, someone clearly likes what he is seeing ![]() ![]() (Mods please remove the above pic if it seems unnecessary.) Cheers. | |

| ![]() It's good to see Mahindra sticking with independent multilink rear suspension instead of going the cheaper route by using torsion beam for the rear. Makes me believe they might offer AWD on some higher variants. |

AWD should definitely be there as some of the earlier spy shots have shown a button which looked like a 'differential lock' control. IMO, the kind of aspirational/ambitious product Mahindra is trying to build (with all kind of gizmos/tech including the ADAS...), I don't think they will skip the AWD irrespective of the actual demand. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() The flush door handles seem to be a problem area. So many test mules have these popping out instead of being flush with the door. I wouldn't be surprised if these become one of the first niggles reported after the new launch. |

They should really evaluate the 'gain vs. the complexity/chances of failure' when it comes to these kind of innovations. Hope they can easily switch to the conventional handle if this is already proving to be problematic during the test run. |

| ![]() Some new spy pics. The seats look quite comfortable, though the side bolstering appears to be slightly excessive. |
