I highly doubt the shortage of chips is the main cause of delay. Mahindra can atleast launch it and take bookings. |

| ![]() Once launched, I feel Safari will surely feel direct heat because of the following reasons: 1) Interiors look way upmarket in comparison to Safari. Safari is just so Harrier in all possible ways except for the 3rd row. Loses that exclusivity as against XUV500 which is unique in its own stable. 2) Looks absolutely fresh and no siblings to mistake the looks. 3) Tata could’ve developed its own Diesel engine to power the Safari instead of sourcing another engine to remain completely homegrown like Mahindra unless I’m mistaken or have missed any cues. I know it’s got it’s cost reasons to be factored in for discussion. 4) Feature rich and carries a strong name that is / was a runaway success since its launch. This is purely from my opinion. Mahindra makes a little more effort in SUV space as compared to Tata. Example is Thar, Scorpio, XUV500. Tata is strong towards hatchback up till crossovers. Mahindra otherwise wins the SUV space is what I think from their recent Thar launch that is a massive success. Anyways I am just not comparing with any other brand. Wanted to just focus on our homegrown companies who’re doing wonders ![]() Regards RV Last edited by gururajrv : 20th February 2021 at 01:46. |

Price is one of the biggest reasons IMO. Currently the Harrier single tone xza plus costs 24.5L OTR Pune. Current XUV500 W11 AT costs 23 L OTR Pune. Even if we assume a 2L price increase for the new XUV500, I feel it will significantly undercut the Safari, which is expected to carry a RS. 2L premium over Harrier. |

| ![]() I don't think the real battle will be with Harrier/Safari, but this time it will be with Hector twins . Harrier twins sells at a premium for a reason - outsourced platform & powertrains . MG drove directly into XUV sales , it's selling at close to 2-3lakhs OTR lower than the Harrier with low priced petrol option and still a lot feature rich. I guess Mahindra will undercut Hector twins with sticker price and will offer a lot of quirky and exclusive features on new XUV . MG sold close to 40K units since launch with 1.5petrol/DCT contributing 60% of sales , while diesel only Harrier sold close to 25K units since launch. BHPian ![]() | ![]() Mahindra, please address these issues in the new gen XUV500 1. A sliding second row, so that 3rd row occupants can get enough space to rest their feet 2. Better interior quality. At 23L OTR Bangalore, the interior quality needs to improve a lot compared to current gen(current gen plastics are not befitting the price) 3. At least innova crysta level boot space (250-300Lit.)with all seats in use. 9 years and still no change in this regard 4. Better tuned suspension and a niggle free car(2011-14 had some niggles, the 2015 version was the best looking version with a balance of features, price, quality and looks. Please bring back the AT+AWD The spy pics interior looks quite good and a tinge of Ford influence is seen through the steering design and the speedo dial fonts P.S. Bring back the flair brought in 2011, and the XUV will be lapped up easily Last edited by jithin23 : 24th February 2021 at 17:09. |

The underthigh support of the middle row bench seems to be really good. Much better than the current model. Also, the cabin lamp appears to be really bright. I personally prefer yellow cabin lamps, like the ones in the Rapid. I feel they are much more soothing and relaxing. Sadly, white LEDs are fast becoming the norm in interior lighting as well. |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() The floor is not flat, which is typical of SUV's and I believe in the 1st gen XUV, floor was flat. Is not the case this time around. Would prefer a flat floor for cleaning the car, it is much easier that way. |
