I will not openly say that I love the spresso....because my wagon r is listening.
I may not like the car myself but can't fault how well you have articulated your thoughts on the car and therfore respect your views.

Woah! You should all be "ashamed" for not being "ashamed" posting these "shameful" comments about the "shameful" contraption that is this car!!!

Mods: I couldn't help but convey what a "shameful" act the above BHPians have committed by liking the S-Presso for the package it is and the purpose it is developed for and not just being keyboard warriors, please delete my comment if found inappropriate.

Not an M/S fanboy here - infact have posted in this thread itself about the (lack of) aesthetics of many M/S products, but that doesn't give one an excuse to be rude to others or to criticise others' choices/decisions purely out of personal bias !

As a package, quite liked this S-presso in terms of the practicality/VFM on offer and moreover it's not an eyesore as many M/S products are (now, I don't want to be the bad guy here, standard disclaimer goes... looks are subjective, beauty is in the eyes of the beer-holder, blahblah). Would I buy it, well although this depends on the budget one is ready to afford; may not be as the primary car but as a probable 2nd fiddle for intra-city rides - quite welcome!

Re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

S-presso vs the Kwid. One trying to create a trend, and the other, following the trend.

However, our Indian designers have easily killed the original concept. I am guessing, the manufacturer, when asked to design, possibly go with the available parts that can easily be manufactured, at a cost. The grill, the headlamps, all seem to be made to cost. And the result is for everyone to see.

This is not the first time, Maruti have spoilt a cute concept. Remember the Zen facelift? Remember, the Zen Classic?

The Kwid facelift though is trying to go with the trend. They are just copying inputs from the Harrier and the MG. Believe me, a base model of the Kwid, with its tiny tyres, look equally shoddy, on road

I might be wrong, but how can the steering be self centred at such low speeds?

Even my Nano's steering won't self-centre itself. Don't know if it's made like that or if it's a problem.

Re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

Looks are subjective they say but the proportions are way off. High center of gravity, narrow track, relatively shorter wheelbase and low kerb weight mean this car will have a hard time dealing with cross winds on open highways. This is purely a city runabout and nothing more. The bigger, more versatile, safer and stable Tiago XE is a far more sensible option as it trounces the S Presso hollow in every area bar the rear headroom. Guess what Tiago XE costs only as much as S presso top model.

Even the face lifted Kwid offers a much much better package. S spresso has no rear view camera, no rear power windows, no fog lamps, no tachometer etc. S Presso is a half baked attempt at a mini "SUV" which has only two things going for it, the engine and the Maruti badge in my honest opinion.

Re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

My limited experience tells me that, cars that are light and have puny tyres struggle to self center. Wagon R and Ignis are two cars that could never come back to center after taking a U-Turn.

Front tyres probably don't have enough weight or grip to act against the steering wheel.

Re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

This car has a great potential. It can even be an Alto killer. It is well equipped, more comfortable and forgiving, with a peppy engine. Ticks all the boxes for a perfect city car.
It also is perfect in regions such as Spiti and the North-East where Altos rule the road.
The locals there prefer light weight car with a decent pick-up which the Alto has, but let down by poor ground clearance. This car then could potentially wipe out Alto.

Re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

This steering issue has been present from the DZire itself. It just does not self centre properly. Probably too much of power assist for the mechanicals to counter?

Ah! The days of the good old hydraulic steering wheel.

This felt more like a MSIL promo video.

By the way, I am selling away my Kwid 1.0 for this most hated car Makes for a brilliant tertiary beater car.
