I don't know why, but this car looks longer than 4m so I'm not sure if this is Kia's competition to the Venue segment.

More images: Kia QYI Venue-based sub-4 meter SUV

Thanks to Chandra Prakash Sinha for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing these with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Kia's Venue-based sub-4 meter SUV has been spotted testing in Delhi.

The new model, codenamed QYI, appears to have wraparound headlights. The front bumper appears to house a pair of fog lamps. The SUV has roof rails, a shark fin antenna and is riding on steel wheels.

Kia's compact SUV is expected to be offered with the same engine options as the Hyundai Venue. It could get the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and more than one automatic transmission option.

The Kia QYI is expected to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. It is likely to be launched in the second half of next year.

Excited for this car. Even though I'm already a Venue owner I wish to see Kia's spin on this Turbo engine and the package that goes along with it.
Combine this with Brezza 2020 petrol and EcoSport BSVI launch; exciting times ahead for C-SUV segment!

While the sketch looks very impressive, recent experiences (Read - Hyundai Aura) has taught me to not get too excited with design sketches so I would reserve my first impression comments till the Sonet is unveiled, and my final comments till I see the car in person.

re: The Kia Sonet Compact SUV, now unveiled

What is the new trend amongst the new cars that are launched with just 2 rear parking sensors? Is it coz now this feature is standard for every car as part of the government regulations, and the car manufactures can no more claim it as "safety" feature in their marketing? Seems like their make doing with the norm by providing the bare minimum requirement, just for the sake of the regulation.

First the Hyundai Venue, then the Altroz. Also, the spy pics of the 2020 i20 can be seen with just 2 of these, and so does the Kia sub-compact now.

My thoughts exactly, sketches of late looks cooler than the actual production model, not sure why cant they stick to the design lines as per the sketch..... how hard can it be

Lets see if Sonet will be close to its sketch or goes down like what Hyundai did.

Well, going by the 2 recent launches from Kia, looks like they won’t disappoint. Atleast I hope so. But yeah, Kia has some really good car designs (considering the cars available for the other markets). So let’s keep our fingers crossed for the Compact SUV.

re: The Kia Sonet Compact SUV, now unveiled

There are some internet reports suggesting that this car could be the Stonic. Does anyone has more information on this?. Stonic - i20 - Kona - Venue seems to have all same underpinnings.

If Kia gets rid of the 140mm of Stonic, possible that this is the car that might get unveiled in new avatar.

The Venue as sold in India is built on the budget grade Santro platform, while the international model shares underpinnings with the i20. Will be very interesting to see if Kia uses the global chassis or follows Hyundai’s approach of a modern top hat on a basic platform.

I feel you have some misconception about the Venue being based on the Santro platform & the upcoming Kia model with a different platform.

Let me clarify
1) Venue is based on the i20 platform in India as well
2) The other vehicle coming from the sister brand (Kia) will also carry the same platform [for economies of scale ]
