Its better to use services of a cab rather than park your car at the airport. Its pretty expensive now. Last month I went to Chandigarh in the morning and came back by 5 PM. I paid a wopping Rs. 750/ for just about 8 hours. Now thats huge money just to park the car. These rates have gone up now only ever since the GVK has taken up the renovation of the airports.

Pune airport long duration parking..

Hi Fellow BHPians,

I was searching for any possible detail about long duration car parking @ Pune Airport but was not able to get precise information from google & even Team BHP.

Anyways, I chose to drive down to airport that early morning on my Kinetic Sym Flyte instead of my Car & explored all the possible option of longer duration parking.

Here we go:

For cars, they have 2 type of parking prices based on location,

1) 360 Rs/Day charged for parking within airport premises, I count it as safest option.
2) 240 Rs/Day charged for parking just outside airport, towards left side when you come out of airport, towards Defense Airport side. I dont know how safe that parking is but still the option is there for you.

For 2 wheelers, location is very suitable & they have a huge parking space just to the left of the entry road to Main Entrance of airport. If you are in real hurry than pack you bags & kickstart your bike & bingo, you can just land at the entry gate. Charges are nominal, just 50 Rs/Day.

What a relief as you dont have to worry about an early morning pickup by a cab walah/auto walah. Just Drive in & take off....

Cheers
Dharmesh

I feel it is better to opt for a Cab/Auto instead of parking our vehicles at the airport. I once parked by bike at the Chennai airport and paid Rs. 600 for 4 days.

Re: Long stay car parking @ Indian airports?

I stay reasonably far from airport in Bengaluru and I still find using taxis cheaper and convinient and no hassles of damage to the car and no pains of driving. Rationale -

Distance from home to airport and back = 80 km (Approx)
Taxi Cost per km A/c Rs. 15/- and Non A/c - Rs. 12/-
Total Taxi cost - A/c- 1200 Rs. Non A/c - 960 Rs.

Self car cost breakup.
Fuel cost (Car gives 12 kms/lt of petrol) = 80*76/12 = 506Rs.
Additional maintenance expenses (Rs. 4 per km) = 320 Rs.
Parking Charges (300 for 1 day and 500 for 2 days) = 300 Rs.
Total = 1126Rs. for 1 day, 1326 for 2 days.

Hence travelling by taxi is cheaper for 2 days or more of travelling and is much more convinient(Driver drives the car and you sleep all the way to the airport ).

Good analysis. I would hesitate to park my car in airport for 2 days because of safety of my car. Someone might come and scratch it.
But keeping only money into consideration, driving a car to airport and leaving there comes out to be cheaper. In your analysis, you mentioned 4 rs per kms as maintenance expenses which I think is on the higher side. For a petrol car, the additional maintenance should hardly cost more than 1.5 rs per km.
The difference will be marginal in case of petrol cars. But for someone who owns a swift, it will be considerable difference as 80kms would cost 4 ltrs of diesel which is just about 200 rs (Saving a further 300rs).

Add the toll too.
When one goes by taxi to BIAL, who pays the toll - the taxi fellow or the passenger/customer?

Re: Long stay car parking @ Indian airports?

Chennai Airport has a demarcated area for Multiday parking and one has to inform the parking attendant and once I was even asked to inform the Airport Manager (domestic) for overnight parking.

The charges is Rs.250/- per day, but they do not have a covered parking slot yet. I was told that since airport expansion is underway, a new parking slot for multi day parking is definitely coming with an increased rate.
