True.

However newbie drivers will appreciate this especially in the ever smaller urban parking spots, tucked under stairwells and basements(with menacing pillars).

IMHO an OEM factory fitted reverse cam can never be matched by aftermarket accessories

If you already have a hatchback in your family, go for the Rapid. But if you have a sedan or CSUV, then you can convince your family for Polo. Easy choice.

I have a Vento and a Punto. Wanting to replace Punto, preferably, with a small car. However, having driven the Polo, if I buy it, then Vento 1.6 petrol falls to 2nd in choice. It is no match for Polo.
So then, the space issue of Polo comes up and wife leans towards Rapid. Rapid also drives very well and had it been smaller without that boot and all, would have bought that, given its cabin space.

But I think, overall, will be going for Polo only.

I tried my level best in enquiring at lot of shops and finally got hold on to Michelin 4ST even though I had to make a travel to the shop which is 100+ kms away.
Couldn’t agree more, its so difficult to not drive these cars fast, I have a beautifully laid out road near my society and it has speed limit of 80kmph, trust me its the most boring stretch for me, driving at 80kmph feels like 50.

P.S. I was showing pictures of your MC and your brother’s MC to my dad and we were discussing that this gentleman has a taste and a proper enthusiast’s garage.

Coming to the Polo turbo edition, I’m so tempted to have one in my garage especially after our Altroz saga, wish my pocket permitted my wishful thinking.

Thanks for the compliment. I have toys for free revving NA fun and turbo torque wave fun.

Regarding your desire for a turbo polo, is a scenario where we can definitely say "money can buy you happiness". Polo is that one car which is like wine, it's getting tastier with age and the 'kick' is stronger now. I wish you good luck to have one in your garage, so that we all can experience a terrific ownership thread from you. Don't aske me, I am extremely lazy.

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

Very tempted to book flash red Polo turbo edition. I sold my last car early 2019 and without car since then (almost 2 years). I bought 2 bicycle in the meantime (sold 1 last year), and currently using entry level btwin mybike for all local errands.
I have been searching for a used car on olx and could not finalise one.

Wife and I are planning to visit VW showroom tomorrow to test drive Polo. Let us see how it goes!

You're looking for a 2.2, 200 HP Carnival with a Wagon R foot print at an 800 price.

Not asking for anything. Just explaining the choices in front of me with positives/negatives the way I see them. Decision making would have been easier with Polo having a bit more of space & Rapid with a little less length. That's all.

Congratulations!
Do post pictures of the car here, once you get to see it.
Your deal is tempting me to book one for us too!

If ever your family go on a longish trip they'll be happier in the Rapid. Also whatever you buy, looks like the TSI powered car will become your main ride. Might as well get the spacious one.

How did you save on the insurance? You do not even have the vehicle details.

As per VW, the insurance quote is 43k approx. I have spoken to my contact in hdfc ergo who can provide bumper to bumper at 25k max for an idv of 6.99 lacs. I will just have to wait for a proforma invoice from the dealer to proceed with official insurance quote.
