According to petrol pump dealers, the drop in sales in these stations is around 25% (since Friday), and people in the business say it is only a matter of time before even filling stations well within the city start feeling the pinch. “The gain of ₹8 per litre is not small for consumers and average radius of Delhi is 15km,” said Nischal Singhania, a Delhi-based fuel dealer and spokesperson of the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA).

Re: Regular petrol hits a century for the first-ever time in India

If the COP commitments in Glasgow are anything to go by, crude prices will continue to skyrocket. Soon enough there will come a stage where things are out of the governments hands and playing around with duty/excise percentages have negligible benefits.

We as consumers need to look at alternatives, either for personal mobility or how we fuel them.

Otherwise as Indians this will keep hitting us harder where it hurts the most, I'm talking about our wallets not the environment.

Re: Regular petrol hits a century for the first-ever time in India

After avoiding a petrol pump visit for well over 2 weeks now, had no option but to fill some yesterday due to some unavoidable commitments. Filled petrol worth 2000/- at 109/- per litre in Mumbai.

The Maharashtra government hasn't bothered to reduce state taxes yet. Neighbouring states are lucky.

Re: Regular petrol hits a century for the first-ever time in India

Maharashtra Deputy CM & Finance Minister has declared that there is no proposal at the moment ro reduce state taxes on fuel!

In short, we will continue to pay through our noses while many other states have already relaxed their taxes, thereby bringing down fuel prices.

Crude oil price went down massively due to new covid variant. There is no price reduction from oil companies and more than that there is no media to question present fuel pricing policy. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com...w/87928451.cms

Market linked pricing mechanism is a joke in this nation and there is no one to question it. Only a sane voter can make then listen, like the farmers did. I am sure this government is just waiting for the UP elections to get over for its next big move upwards

Fuel base prices are calculated on the basis of a 15 day rolling average of international prices.

15th day is today. So can we expect the effect of this 15th day tomorrow as the rolling average will decrease? Why there is no revision of fuel prices for last 21 days? Crude oil price was constant for last 21 days !!!. Where was this 15 day policy then?

Re: Regular petrol hits a century for the first-ever time in India

Market-linked pricing of petrol/diesel is anything but true. It's an open secret that the politicians are hand-in-glove with the oil companies. How else can one explain fuel prices being frozen/cut especially during election season?

Even though global crude prices have fallen owing to the new COVID variant scare, won't be surprised if the government simply refuses to pass on any relief to us consumers.

Tanked up both bike and car @ 100.5 in Bangalore. Saved a total of around 400INR. I can already hear AB asking me(in my head) ‘kya karenge is dhanraashi ka’

Delhi Govt has brought down VAT from 30% to 19.4%; price of petrol set to come down by 8/- per litre. Enjoy dilli-walon!

May I know where is the 15 day rolling avarage now ?

What about the profit of oil companies , public and some " private" ones? Will they break the record profit set in 20-21 at the expense of common man ?

These profits also make their way to the Govt which holds about 51% stake (at the moment). Although the amount (thousands of crores) is not as large as the taxes themselves, which run into lakhs of crores.

A relevant news item about IOCL - https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/in...t-7762561.html

Re: Regular petrol hits a century for the first-ever time in India

Had to drive out of the city for a family emergency last week; no option but to fill an entire tankful of petrol. Did so after a lot many months; was surviving on bare minimum top-ups. As the meter was going up, so was my heart rate. We Mumbaikars are sorely unlucky, as the state government has enough money to announce reduction in excise on liquor, but no reduction in levies over fuel, which impacts a larger populace! Real buffoons sitting in high places.
