Jokes aside, thank you for providing this information. So, the 1.5 T-GDI N-line will compete with the GT line of the VW/Skoda twins then. Hyundai is not exactly known for driving dynamics. Hope they sorted it with the new Verna though.

I request you to TD the new Tucson about the driving dynamics. In fact, personally, Tucson surprised me with its driving dynamics. While Tiguan is still the benchmark, Tucson it is not far behind.

I am sure Verna 1.5 turbo will compete with the 1.5 VAG cousins, Verna fun factor most likely will be a surprise (at least my expectation).

As pointed out by someone, the only good thing about this Verna is Hyundai's efforts to infuse some life in the dying sedan segment.

It doesn't look probable that the 1.5L turbo will give the VAG twins a run for their money because
1. Hyundai's are not known for fun element and driving dynamics.
2. The VAG twins are themselves running for their share of money

Somehow I feel that this launch will help Ciaz (and maybe City) if Hyundai prices this Verna closer to the VAG twins territory.

Also I wonder how this LED bar will look like in other colors.

What a weird looking c pillar!. That raised rear bumper just kills the grace Verna is known for. This is looking like an elongated aura in every way.

IMO, in the side profile, it tries to look like an Elantra (as have the last two generations) but ends up looking like a Kia Pegas.

That bulbous rear glass reminds me of the ‘dolphin’ Honda City.

That spy shot from Rushlane gives more of a clear view of what to expect, and it’s plain boring. This looks + general below par build quality of Hyundai, definitely not going to make this an exciting car for many. But then let me reserve my comment and don’t jump the gun. At least in looks, in all the pics (other than that sketch) it’s really an ugly looking car.

My apologies. Maybe I should've been clear. My comparison was a colleague's Verna (2017-2020), which I've got a chance to drive for a couple thousand kilometers. While the vehicle was pretty decent to drive, I only realized how good VAG cars are to drive after getting a chance to TD a Rapid 1.0 TSI.

Let's not write off the Verna on the fun to drive factor before a thorough review - Hyundai has been making serious strides in the ride and handling department ever since they started participating for WRC. In fact the ride and handling of the soon to be discontinued generation is far better than the older one.

My only serious concern is the safety rating and that hideous design (interior and exterior) which may never age well.

This bloated Beluga whale looking thing would surprise people if it gave even the Ciaz a run for its money, performance wise. Because it looks S-L-O-W and ungainly, to say the least. At least, from a dynamic design POV. Not arguing about numbers; although the VW twins will demolish it.

If I were to buy this, the first thing I would do is paint the alloys black and maybe even de-chrome the whole car. A spoiler (though useless) would also make it look better from the side and from the back.
