Checked the Altis at Millennium Toyota in Thane. The car looks good the interiors are also better as compared to Corolla.
I am sure others who has seen the car in person will be able to throw more light on this.

The 8 way power driver seat is very interesting. One can customize the seat for utmost comfort and driving style.
Another thing noticed is that the spare wheel is also alloy one ( no cost cutting in that respect).
The MID is good so are the steering wheel controls.
The avg mileage is claimed at around 14.

There was good crowd in showroom and there is a 25-30 day wait period.
The Showroom cost in Mumbai is 11.32 lakhs for G and 12.65 for GL

Will upload the pics soon.

I dropped in to check out the Altis launch at one of the Toyota dealerships in Chennai. Took some pics and saw a lot of everything else and very little of the car!. Here are some of the pics from the launch.

Saw the Altis at TGIP, Noida this Saturday.
Must say that it looks good. Though resembles the older sibling, but the interiors are refreshed and much more plush.
And the fir and finish is top notch too.
Doors closed and i could hardly hear the blaring music playing in the mall.
Seats are comfortable and overall the car has a rich look.
Though Civic is a stunner but Altis seems a more prcatical car in the following terms
1. Ground Clearanace
2. After Sales of Toyota viz-a-viz Honda
3. Toyota's quality and customer oriented attitude
4. More VFM with better features.

Saw the car in DSK toyota Pune on saturday.

Few Observations

1) Only 3 varients this time 1 automatic , 2 manual

2) Car engine is same but with few tweaks to increase the power

3) The car looks different than the earlier corolla but in my personal opinion it is not as futuristic as Civic.

4) It has many gadget things like wiper washer , HD lamps etc etc but look wise civic is the winner

Is Toyota offering extended warranty packages like VW is on the Jetta?

I believe warranty is 3years. The jetta has 4years and so does the Accord.

Yes the warranty offered is 3yrs /100,000 km. And currently there is no option of extended warranty (even paid one), as per the dealer.

Say 3 variants for the time being. Inevitably after 1-2 years when the novelty effect wears off, and sales start to stagnate, nearly all manufacturers strip their models (car models that is) to catch the margin.

Corolla was always a good car however Altis in India is just a tiny step up from earlier Corolla . Was just comparing the specs of US model to Indian not just some accessories here and there but engine also seems to be different . In US they provide dual VVTI engine , no such luck in India .

Yes, they provide the dual VVTi engine in Japan and US. I wonder why we don't have it here.

In Thailand, they are also giving the 1.6 L 109 HP version which we are not getting. Toyota may never plan to offer this in India. On the other hand, if does so, then it will seriously hot up the C-segment.

Just checked out the Altis at the showroom. Unfortunately couldnt get a TD as the demo cars hadnt been registered, but have been booked for a test drive on Thursday.

I think this is a good, practical, VFM car for the price you pay for it. The interiors are classy and elegant (not as flashy as the Civics', but thats a good thing for some people) outside looks to my mind, about the same as the older model, except for a few cosmetic changes.

All the knick knacks that they offer, coupled with fantastic service and bullet-proof reliability should make this a steady seller.

Am now seriously looking at putting my money down for the auto version as i dont like giving my car to a driver and absolutely hate Mumbai traffic. The auto seems the best bet for me....sacrifice a bit of driving pleasure for supreme ease of use.

Saw a blue demo Altis from my office balcony at Bagmane Tech Park, Bangalore today. From that distance, my initial thoughts were "the Camry doesn't look huge from here" and then saw 'DEMO CAR' on the sides. Looks like a mini-Camry from afar and at first glance (I'm not saying good or bad).
