Micro Hybrid is not available in AT. It is only on the manual transmissions.

Hi Guys,

I am new in the Team and this happens to be my first post.

I have just got news from a reliable source in MM that all Scorpio AT's are being recalled. They have sold around 234 Scorpios AT's. And this recall will effect all of them. Recall is to replace TCU's (Transmission control units). Its a 4.5 to 5 hrs jobs.

Of course, no money will be charged from the customers and the dealers have been advised to tell the customers that the software of the TCU has been upgraded.

I think it will solve the 'gear hunting' problem in low gears. I think memebers who have this truck can confirm the news.

I'm getting delivery of my VLX AT today, will check with my M&M contact, I doubt the dealer will know or share anything.

BTW, avoid Sahyadri Motors like the plague, their sales staff is rude and unprofessional.

I guess Mohnish can confirm this news, if they are doing something to make the driving experience of the car better its very good for M&M.

Well, this apparently only effect certain vehicles, I have sent them my chassis number and they will get back to me.

The vehicle has been delivered in Pune this afternoon, unfortunately I'm in HYD. I'm flying home tonight and will try and post a first drive report this weekend.

Scorpio Auto tranny

I would like to know what does 'six speed' automatic transmission means. I have gone through Mahindra website and checked out the specs.

It says the scorpio is available in 'Six speed' auto transmission or 5 speed manual.

I am bit confused what would it actually means (in VLX AT)

a) Does it mean it has six forward gears and one reverse
b) Or it means 5 forward gears + one reverse
c) Or it can go in either direction in six gears ( it may sound a stupid option but please check my status. I am a newbie here. So please excuse me of lack of automobile vocabulary and understanding).

hi buddy, welcome to T-BHP.

it means the automatic scorpio has 6 forward gears & 1 reverse gear.

the manual scorpio has 5 forward gears & 1 reverse gear.

Hi Awarty,

How has your experience with your VLX AT been till date ?

I am getting a 2009 model driven for 49k kms for around 7.5 lakhs. Do you think it is a reasonable price ?

Also would you be able to give an approximation on the yearly maintenance cost on a post-warranty Scorpio AT ?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest not buying the Scorpio A/T now.

The company which supplied the A/T gearbox went bankrupt and shut down, so sourcing components in the future (if anything goes wrong) could be a headache.

I agree. The earlier supplier Drive Train International has stopped supplies after getting acquired by Geely, the Chinese vehicle major. Geely is obviously not interested in maintaining the customer base for this either.

Mahindra is bringing in the new auto unit for Scorpio with Bosch manufactured tranny. Would be a good idea to avoid the earlier autos.

Please check your data sources. In my belief this switchover to Bosch-sourced AT happened several months ago.

Misunderstanding, I think!

The person posting the query is buying a pre-owned one Scorpio AT (2009 model). Hence the responses are very valid. Buying one of the old ATs would be suicidal in terms of support and spares!
