I read in a daily here that they also freed prices from Govt. control. So, after this hike, the oil companies can regulate the price as they wish.

No comments from Mumbai folks? Whats the new price now? Normal and Premium fuel. I thankfully filled my bike's tank day before yesterday and half tank of my car yesterday. Didn't know there was going to be a hike ;(

I read sometime back the price mechanism will be freed, but the Govt will intervene when retail prices touch a particular level.

I fill up in a petrol bunk in Navi Mumbai.

petrol should now be around 48 rs in navi mumbai.

luckily i m spared. LPG is still 25.95 for the last 4 motnhs.

now my savings will now increase :-)
All city reading with 100% AC
cost per km - LPG - 25.95/8 = Rs. 3.25
cost per km - Petrol - 48/10 = Rs. 4.8

Yes, there was talk of freeing petroleum products from the price mechanism that is currently in place. But this will take some time to come into place. And yes, the govt will intervene once the prices spike.

With today's hike, I will see an increase of Rs. 600 in my fuel bills per month

Guys need your suggestion. I bought a car few months ago and since have been filling only shell normal diesel in my car. I was wondering should i shift to govt owned pumps?

Is there any pro's or con's to shifting to govt owned pumps?

hehe yeah. I do love these price rises. My grin does get wider, and i get to drive like a maniac while my friends are all in economy mode.

But all is not rosy. earlier , the govt increased prices by Rs 5 and 3, but rolled them back only by 5 and 2, so us diesel folks got shafted by a rupee.

Fillled up the tank of my Alto with BP speed petrol at the Ashram petrol bunk, Pondichery yesterday. Price was Rs 45.05 per litre!
If any of you drive to Pondy please use this bunk. It is run by Sri Aurobindo Ashram and located very near the Ashram. Highly recommended by a former colleague of mine who is now settled at Pondy. He says their Q&Q is excellent.

After returning to Chennai went straight to Shell Chromepet and topped up again with premium (was doing a mileage check). Price Rs 52.20 per litre.
