Has anyone noticed some cars with regn nos as - HRU xxxx
Having seen HR-26 etc. regn on vehicles, wonder what the HRU could be!

Actually MH-03 used to be for ghatkopar RTO initially ...but for the eastern suburbs RTO has shifted to wadala...

so mh-03 is Wadala RTO now... cheers

Actually the list doesn't look like it's been updated since it still lists some districts like Nainital, Almora etc. in UP whereas they've been part of Uttaranchal since 2000.

hey Jomz i relly dunno if we have KL 60 but yeah have seen number till KL-18. no ideas if they have done the same. Well anyways headin 2 Kerala next month so will check on the same

MH40 is for a place called Saoner in nagpur district though nagpur has MH31 series but additional was created for this place saoner .

In Mp series starts from MP04 for capital bhopal and first 3 series are
MP01 for governer being first citizen
MP02 for government officials including ministers n all
MP03 for police

One for every RTO - earlier the numbers were allotted by the main RTO in each district. For eg. the numbers for RTOs in Ernakulam Dist were all KL07. This was a logistical nightmare as the main RTO had to issue numbers to each office and still ensure that the serial order was maintained for KL07.

This also resulted in certain districts like Ernakulam running through each series very fast. Henceforth the 2 digits following the KL will denote the RTO and not the district. If you still want district wise classification you will have to club the different numbers together.

IMHO it also makes the identification of a vehicle's origin more precise.

Actually, for a long time, Gandhinagar had not RTO. I'm talking about the time 20 years back. All vehicles were registered at Ahmedabad RTO. Roughly around 10 years back, Gujarat Govt. created a separate RTO for Gandhinagar but since series 01 was already assigned, it was assigned 18.

as you know that jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan the registration numbers here are
RJ14-Jaipur , RJ-01-ajmer,RJ-02-Alwar , RJ34-Karauli,RJ-20-kota ,

Can someone list all the places that do no have octroi ? Will help us know where to register cars and save some cash.
MH-14 (Pimpri) & MH-43/04 are out of the octroi limit
I think GJ is also no octroi?
