BSA Falcon Advt

Hi,
This is BSA Falcon advt. I think it was 1st 50cc mini motorcyle in India. I remember my kho-kho teacher was having this bike in 1982 to 89. It was fun to see the exhaust note and superb pickup in those days.

Yezdi-Monarch very rare and short term model

This is picture advt of Yezdi-Monarch. It was introduced in 1989-90(not sure) after seeing tough competition from Ind-Suzuki & Hero-honda 100bikes. You could see new generation head lamp, speedometer box, indicators and attractive petrol tank shape with lot of radium. It was short lived because engine was same with lot of starting trouble and low milege. In my life, i ve seen this bike only once in Pune around 89-90.

The TVC was truly great, the hen coop, old man on rocking chair, the storm brewing, then the shogun's firing and as the shogun passed the all lights of the old man's hut lit up!!! I dont remember well but i think they barely showed the bike... but it made my hair stand on their ends... had the reverse effect on my dad and he decided Hero Honda was the best for me...

@ Salilpawar1 - The Maruti 800 add is awesome; directly relates to the Nano purpose 2010. Amazing to see that Nano is trying to do what 800 did then

Cheers!!

Is this the Yezdi 175 cc one, with the undersized bore on the same 250 cc engine everything mechanical remaining the same. Though it created an initial stirr, it faded off.

re: Ads from the '90s - The decade that changed the Indian automotive industry

Thanks to Sagar Iswalkar for sharing this ad. How times have changed. Only 12 years back, car makers were still advertising about:

- Air conditioning
- Glow plugs that *only* require 7 seconds of heating!!!
- Front disc brakes
- Laminated windscreen
- Halogen bulbs
- Radial tyres
