Is this Engine BS4 compliant? or Is it end of innings for Rio already?

I am particularly keen to see the profile of the ultimate buyers of Rio. Anyone has thought about who they would be? I guess they will be victims of poor research and advice.

I don't think any one in team-bhp will pay for one. I think it will sell better in Class B and C towns. The cost may keep it away from Rural India.

Any other thoughts?

BH.

PREMIER RIO In Bangalore

There is a showroom called Komura Premier in Koramangala opened today
(I gatecrashed the opening ceremony/pooja to look at the car in person). It is near the Krishna temple in 5th block near the Infosys K'mangala office.
Agree with most of the reviews , but the car does have potential with a better engine and better plastics and interiors. To give it due credit , it looks good from the outside but interior space and quality are bad _by today's standards_. It does look better, though, compared to a Gypsy.

And to the news that grabbed my attention (from the dealer)

They are planning to introduce an MPV with a 1.9L MJD (I'm not sure I heard it right but they are probably trying to make use of their old Fiat ties!) to compete in the Innova segment

>>The Rio is not BS4 as of today so will not sell in Bangalore. They are expecting a CRDI-powered (From Peugeot) around 90 bhp spec engine which is BS4 compliant and better interiors on the Rio itself without changing the price as and when it is launched.

>>This new Rio is expected to hit the dealerships in August 2010.

>> Current dealerships in Maharashtra and Gujarat are selling 30-50 Rios a month.

>>The dealer himself admitted the drawbacks of the current offering in the current market with the competition and stated that PAL is working on improvements.

>> There is one more MUV with Rio-spec engine that is planned to be launched in the near future.

I haven't seen anybody talking about this anywhere so decided to post it FEI :P

Disclaimer: I am reporting exactly what I heard. With dealers, you can never say but then why would he invest in a showroom in a vehicle he cannot sell? He can only register outside bangalore right now so he must be targeting the rural market. So I guess these tidbits are fairly believable..

**Shocked** how can they afford a Premier dealership in one of the most expensive suburbs of Bangalore...and oh its not even BS4 yet.

Check this, yes it is koramangala.

Premier rolls out Rio

Everytime I used to pass by SONY world junction, I used to wonder how the renault showroom at the corner used to make money selling logans considering the rental they would pay for that location.

It is Koramangala and not Nelamangala. I kind of like the way you put it.

spotted the RIO in red, just yesterday, looks like a mini pajero (slightly shorter), but not bad. The car had 6666 number on her. Seems like one of teh first few here..

It looks good. All it needs is a decent engine, some decent marketing (banners, hoardings), some good interiors and voila, PAL is back!

Sighted one today morning on Old Madras Road, near NGEF Jn. Car surprisingly looks good in flesh and looked neatly finished (exterior). Ofcourse, there was think blr type traffic around so couldn't look at the details. Pics below...

Saw the same vehicle a month back on 100 Ft Rd, Indiranagar. Looks like a SUV cut in half at the rear.
