Hi, Shobit,
the stock tyres provide a very good ride adn are adequate unless you want performance...
BTW..in general the speedo error is 5%+ in most of stock cars especially at high speeds...so I guess 0.22% will not make much of difference..

The Petra.

When I bought my Palio Gtx over a year ago, I had the choice of a baleno too. But prefered the Palio for its solid feel, SAFETY and the confidence it gives me at high speeds.

If I had the space to park a petra in front of my office, i would have bought a Petra!

But even though after discount the difference is just a few thousand on the Balenos side,. the Petra is still more VFM as it includes a music system, wooden finish, Alloy wheels, 14" tubeless tyres.

In chess, there is a saying "it is easier to sacrifice the other players pieces". I wonder, when it actually comes to putting ones own hard earned money, how much of those (including myself ) who voted for Petra, would actually end up buying the Petra.

Very good observation. Recently, many people on Team-BHP have bought Balenos (me included), can't say the same about Petra, nowhere close.

Put thine money where thine mouth is

Mine is on a baleno

I know, we are still freee to discuss carsthat we dont own,
and should continue to do so,
This is a bit of an interesting case. Similar cars & price.

Hey Samurai - dont wanna get ino an argument but if a car sells well, it automatically qualifies as a better car ?? so if the petra hasnt sold as well as the baleno its a car that isnt as good as the baleno ?

and if the baleno is a better car then why dint it sell when it was launched ?

anyways - this argument wont go anywhere .

and yeah - i have bought a Fiat Palio S10 and atleast I am very happy about it !

cheerios

YOu stole my words! As i said earlier a Mid size C segmant car is a huge investment for majority of the people in India.

For most people ASS,Maintenance costs and peace of mind would be very important factors.

It's not always the better car that sells.Honda City sells the most -consistently in the upper C segmant. Is it the best car?

How many people out here would be willing to actually bet 6 Lakhs on the product of a company for whome there is a conceivable scenario wherin it just shuts shop and goes off.

Take Fiat global -it's going nowhere. I doubt it has a future globally, much less in India.

Fully agree. This thread has become totally pointless & at times looks like one of those from indiacar.

NC you are right in a sense.
I think what was being pointed out was extremely specific to the case in this thread thats all.
A large number of people who have voted baleno own one, wheres a large number of people who voted perta dont.
Its a discrepancy which would not appear with other models that easily.
In most cases most of the voters prolly wont own either cars, say a Mondeo v/s Skoda Rs poll for example.

And the lousy original pricing of the Baleno definitely made it a lousy buy. I thought it suckjed completely at that price and would not touch one with a barge pole.

But the poll is on current specs, and thats what counts more.]
What puts me for baleno, is that it was the last car on my list to buy,
I checked it out, drove it and bought it
(have also drivena siena earlier, but not a petra - which is why i havent posted my views on the petra)
