Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

We are not used to sliding doors, but i think it is better suited in India where the parking lots are un marked. People park so close to each other, it is difficult to board with out pulling the car out of the lot.

Panel van version of NV200 will be introduced In North American markets this fall as a 2013 model.

NY Taxis will start to get replaced with NV200 shortly.

According to reports the NY Taxi version has a glass top and inbuilt seperation from the driver cabin. Microbial clothes are used for seating. Another feature will be the low-annoyance horn, where the sound is accompanied by an exterior light that illuminates. There’s also a light to alert those nearby when the doors are opening. I wish all these features available in "New York City’s Taxi of Tomorrow" will be available in this "Indian Taxi of Tomorrow" also.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

The Evalia will find favour within the taxi segment. It has a bullet proof engine and can comfortably seat 7 people and with it's sliding doors, getting in and out of the car will be easier compared to other cars.
If priced sensibly it could give a good fight to the Xylo, tavera and also to some extent to Ertiga.

+1 and -1
I don't agree that we aren't used to sliding doors. In the mid-80s when Maruti only made two products, the Maruti Van (later Omni) was popular as a passenger car and had sliding doors.
As teamveevee says, sliding doors have their own advantages. I fail to see why it's a factor.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

And now the OD Test Drive report of the vehicle:

2012 Nissan Evalia in India first drive - Overdrive

I wish instead of the butterfly time windows in the second row, there could have been proper (nornal) slide down windows & the butterfly type for the 3rd row, where the glass seems fixed (non-opening) type.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

Interiors look promising. Floor seems flat & interiors are looking lively too. The outside theme is not carried forward on the insides. Trays for the back passengers, handles, bottle holders, etc. this seems to have a lot of creature comforts.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

Seems like the media drives are on. So we can expect a team-bhp review soon?

Btw, am a big fan of such utilitarian vehicles (my fav being VW Multivan/ Transporter). I Hope this one is priced sensibly below Innova, in which case it would make perfect sense for a family of 6 or more as a long distance tourer.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

I think the Evalia will be a hit in the taxi segment. I am not sure if it will be a big hit among the private buyers, because I have a problem with the looks of the car, on the whole. The Innova/Ertiga are 7-seaters but they won't feel out of place in an office parking lot. I think the Evalia might stick out like a sore thumb. However, my opinion is based just on the pics, since I feel the car looks bulky, especially the rear. Maybe in real-life it's not so bad.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

Some points that I noted from the Autocar India Review:
1. Bottle holder on two sides of the dash.
2. Flat floor
3. 50 split third row, unlike the Ertiga
4. Good legroom for middle row, but poor thigh support. No Sliding seat for second row.
5. Good leg room for third row, good enough for two full size adults
6. Good luggage space even with third row upright
7. Third row seats can be flipped and stacked to the side wall, generating large flat boot for additional luggage.
8. Rear suspension is leaf spring type!
9. No lid for glove box!

Decent legroom for the 3rd row passengers. Definitely better than Ertiga in this department.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

^^^ & my for inclusion of safety features (ABS, EBD, BA) in all variants. Further, they are also considering possibility of CNG Variant, which means that Petrol version also being considered ( I hope I haven't missed out reference to the Petrol version earlier).

Further, the 3rd row is 50:50 split, which is a good plus over the Ertiga (which has smaller boot space).

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

A few more detailed pictures of Evalia that I just saw.

Comment & Picture Courtesy: "Motor Vikatan"

* Nissan Evalia has a reverse camera feature, good.
* High driving position is a big plus. Very easy to drive aswell
* You cant open the middle row windows fully. It comes with a restrictive butterfly-type opening. (picture attached)
* It has a closed compartment were usually gear lever is located. But you can't store many things in this closed box.
* There is no lid on the glove compartment. Things can fall easily
* Nissan Evalia does not have a start stop system. But has intelligent key system. So there is no need to put the key in the key slot. But you should press the push button (see picture attached) before you get down from the car. Otherwise the car won't be locked.
* Unlike the traditional position on other cars, the Gear Lever is fixed as a part of the center-console.
* Third row has Separate AC vents and AC controls.

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

Here's my take on this
1. This is mainly for the taxi segment
2. That segment does not care about looks (remember Qualis?)
3. K9K-85 would be alright but can it handle 7 people + "saamaan"?
4. It is under-tired for sure and GC might be an issue
5. It is a 'good enough' package and IF priced right, can get a fair share of the taxi segment

Re: Spotted : Nissan MPV (Nissan Evalia / NV200)

Zigwheels test drive report is also out, the link to which is attached below:

Nissan Evalia: First Drive Page - 1| ZigWheels.com

The boot in one of the images seems at par with Force-One, much bigger than Innova, & there is rear AC as well, which is equally effective for the 2nd & 3rd rows as per the review.
