Tata Nano, it is. It defines its own class, does not look built to a price and/or compromising shape!
And the Bombay to Delhi run by Sam/NC proved its credentials to the doubters ...

I had this idea of creating a thread for "Team-BHP car of the year"
But i was late or Dippy was quick
Who else other than the largest auto forum in INDIA deserves the most,to choose the Indian Car of the year.
And its our own nano that has won the title by beating the next best by a margin of 150% more votes.
I cant resist staring at nano on road especially that yellow color.
I want TATA to do a 'beetle' to the nano like, luxury features and great engines in the same cute form factor.
I wish this happens in the coming years.

Fortuner gets my vote for Car of the Year, as it has completely reshaped that particular segment. From Jan to July, the average sales in this segment was 495 units per month. Since Fortuner was launched in August, the average sale is 1106 units per month, with Fortuner accounting for an average of 600 odd per month. This segment has doubled its customer base all thanks to the Fortuner.

Nano is a winner in the long run no doubt, however Fortuner has been the star this year in my opinion.

My vote goes to the Tata Nano. No car has made so much impact on the world as the Nano has done. Kudos to Ratan Tata for this.

My vote goes to Tata Nano. IMHO, no other car even comes closer to Nano in the choice for Car of the Year.

And yes, I am looking for buying a Nano whenever it would be available directly without waiting or through lottery.

Actually the poll is unfair. Each car is a winner in it's segment. Infact, some cars redefine these segments. For me though, TATA NANO, CHEVROLET CRUZE and SKODA SUPERB are the cars of the year in their segments. These cars have redefined value, performance and luxury in their respective segments.

On the downside, Honda JAZZ hardly has anything in it even to qualify for this nomination

5. Makes for a great family mover.
6. Best legroom in class.
7. Feels more brute.

P.s. I guess mine is the only vote for the Xylo.
Mine too! And for mostly the same reasons.

Realized that some of the spares cost only half that of scorpio and innova.
P.S. Been recently to Travancore, and did see a lot of new Xylos with yellow boards. My personal take is these vehicle owner's/driver's opinion on the car can make or break it. One point scored already due to the lower spare part costs.

Its definitely the Nano which is the Car of the year. Given its price, the features and the value it offers it will soon be one of the most wanted cars in the market.

I also believe Nano is the pride of every Indian.

Nobody for poor Ritz? Even though it is the largest selling car per month of all the cars launched in 2009. But its correct, no car other than Nano deserves to be car of the year. BTW is it correct CNBC awarded Honda Jazz as the car of the year? Thats a joke?

Yes that's already the joke of the year 2010. CNBC? I saw it in NDTV Profit.

Thats a huge achievement for TATA and Nano, given the fact that Indica (Rover City) was mocked by Top Gear as a car that shows how a car should not be made.

Also Range Rover which came out tops is owned by TATA and Jaguar XF too. Hats off to TATA for owning such good cars and SUV's. Nano at 7th position is awesome too. Though i wonder what Vauxhall VX220 is doing in the list
