Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

hi all

I live in 5 gardens area, and have noticed over past month that 10% of cars have their front/back logo stolen.

Both logos on my palio are stolen

Noticed in Worli area too - many cars.

Anybody knows more?

Amit

Very common in Parel (KEM Hospital-Wadia Hospital area). Almost all cars in a friend's building have either the front or the rear logo missing.

What will they do with these stolen logos? Sell in the blackmarket? Are there any buyers for logos from blackmarket?

I've seen plenty of logos with 800, Suzuki, TATA, and Hyundai logos in small accessory shops, most of them looking as if they'd like a polish. So I guess there're are takers for them.

The factory fitted ones come with 3M glue and stickon which can last a lifetime(if not stolen) but once you buy from these small shops they will use any general purpose glue which will not even last few months leave alone years.

Thats why OEM logos are costly

I knew that & the logos on my car are original ones. I was just refering to this reason as a potential reason for logos getting stolen

You'll mostly find these stolen logos stuck on autorickshaws, trucks, fake volvos, bicycles, handcarts and small shops (once i saw a honda barber chair below a tree) and slum houses.

@pankaj
you can't re-stick OEM stolen logos which use 3M tape (using the same tape, that is). So that cannot be the reason for being stolen.

It may not be stolen actually. My safari lettering from the back gradually fell off within the first one month: from safari to safar to afar to fa and then i just took the remaining two off with my fingers.

Maybe tata doesn't use 3M to save costs.

How do they identify the OEM logos?
If the logo is bought from an accessories shop, can they identify them?

I have seen Ford logos on quite a few ricks here in Bangalore. Hyundai seems to be another favourite, i guess.
