ABS remains an option, at least.
There have been several reports of badly crashed vernas in the Accidents in India Forum, however.

I think, a little bumper mod will make it look decent!!

check this out(I just modified the front bumper a lil' bit)

New Verna Sooner than you Expect: Launched as Verna Transform-verna-e-transform.jpg

Also, a straighter bonnet-grille area would've been better!

So you love it only for the engine right (and that has to be the diesel)?

Yes, this was raised as a point by SidIndica, about how there were a large number of Verna's that got involved in crashes, and if I can recall correctly, most of them were diesels. While I think that is not any proof, but I hate Hyundai for getting rid of the rear discs surreptitiously.

Shame on you Hyundai! I would have preferred you kept the Verna as it is, instead of insulting us with this after-thought of a car. Changing the front bumper and grill and the color of the LED illumination does not make a new car. And STILL skipping on the airbags? That is just unacceptable!

I am glad I bought my Verna when it still looked decent, and came with all 4 disc brakes and ABS!

I saw this abomination in grey color in Bangalore - Guess it was driven to some showroom. Launch indeed looks near. The New 2010 Verna (from Korea) looked awesome! I think it gets darkest before the dawn

I did see one on the roads in Bombay (near Powai). It seemed to be new delivery to a customer. The front looked interesting (to say the least); a little bit scary looking to me . I did not get a good look at its rear, so cannot say anything about it. Overall, an interesting makeover.

Prices go from 6.55 through about 9.0 ex-showroom Delhi, specs are up and running, and my photographs from the launch party in Delhi are at and around . . .

All the best. I think this is a time-line spoiler for the VW Vento coming up 6th of July 2010 . . .

Lemme go and see the car in the showroom today in a while and get over this grasshopper like design..jeez.

now what? an accent transform?

it too needs a drastic change with virtually no F/L since the past 12 years.

Saw this car yesterday on Alipore Road...

Trust Hyundai to make a average looking car into ugly!! I really prefer the old model.

Sid, are you sure that this one will be launched. This will surely make the Verna Transform look better.

Verna Transform does not look that bad, except the grill (I liked the grill of the 2nd pic that rajeshsundaram has posted earlier) & sharp eyes (I think I have an idea to make those look really sharper & better). But, the absence of airbags is illogical. Does this means that Hyundai's R&D has been unable to fit those in Indian Verna?

no idea..but the old accent model is out of production in almost all the countries of the world. The pic I posted was actually of the F/L that Hyundai introduced in 2004 in global markets where the accent was sold but skimped the Indian market.
This model was phased out in 2006 and replaced by the latest accent which is sold as verna in India.
