900bhp ? are you sure ? else i think it would be safe to just call it as The Supra and not 900 bhp supra. Are you saying that any person with a 900bhp supra car can win against an F430 ? Another thing to be noted is that Shabbir is a very good driver and has been driving that car in drags from a long time and hence can take that car to its limits, what i mean to say is that the car need not necessarily be 900bhp for him to win against the F430.

yup that was nice to watch, but i remember seeing the R1 beat the ZZR1400 ( Blue ? ) in one of the runs, not sure though, may be in the Open class or something...
BTW, did you notice that the R1 was fitted with NOS for the Open class run ? too bad that it didnt work when he fired it, else that would have been a sight to watch.

That Zen is a 1 ltr turbo Zen belonging to Vasu, he came 3rd in his class in the final run.

I am curious, what exactly happened to the Nissan GTR ?? Did it run and what times did it do.

Supra ? 900 BHP ? I don't think that is happening on this supra even on the crank, this car is more like 500 to 580 at the wheels.
Now we don't have to debate this, cos a Dyno chart can only prove what power is being delivered, however, mighty fast machine indeed with a very ugly extra terrestrial Antenna on the boot.

Guys, lets not get into another "bhp" arguement. Its just not worth it.

Anyway, what happened to the ones from Blore???

I heard Psycho had some issues but what about ssjr (shrey), wolf (ritesh), gray (fahad) and Madhu's NOS OHC.

I dont think the HKS Sx4 made it to Hyd.

PS : I heard that there were no time displays at the strip. I find this really wierd coz who's to say which car did what? Times can easily be manipulated!!!

Very unfortunate, considering the amount of time and money spent.

The only thing worse than losing to a faster car is to have one of the fastest cars in the class and get disqualified at the start.

Great event, but can improve in the PR aspect. No mention of the event in TOI and just one page 4 article in The Hindu. It is apparent that the article was written by somebody with poor knowledge of motor sports. It carries one picture of Nagarjuna's son in his Ferrari and another picture of a few girls chatting with each other.

No updates on the APMSC site either.

Read my previous posts and you'll know, i've mentioned as to what happened to them.
Fahad = Jump Start
Madhu's OHC = 13.6 Sec ( Indian Open ) First Place.

BTW there was a Supercharged OHC... was quick too.

This is the white one right? I think he was the same chap who came 2nd to Wolf in the "Bbay Speed Run" last year.

Awesome, he shaved off 0.6 secs off his best time in Bbay and that too at an altitude of 1750ft (so expect him to go even quicker at the next Bbay run).

I saw a couple of lancers and cedia too. One lancer was in complete black including the wheels, not sure if it participated. One cedia with a red and white combination color.

It seems Shabbir himself told someone it is tuned to 900bhp. I dont know if thats true. I agree that he is a good driver and is professional in all sense. Also, see who he was pitted against in the Ferrari ( celebrity son of a film star-so its not a fair competition at all)

Prabhu in his stock zen beat the Ikon Flair in qualifying/Trials.

Blue ZZR1400 was mouthwatering to say the least.

Swifts were dime a dozen. It didnt do any great shakes either. However, a couple of OHC's ( White and black one and a green one ) were very impressive.

Some Zen's were also quite impressive.

Special mention to a guy in Red Peted VRS, he was smoking other peted VRS. This purely calls for driving skills. Great show

I was there till the entire prize distribution and GMR boss gave a surprise of 1Lakh cash prize to be distributed to all.

so cash prize across all category for 1st/2nd/3rd was 1500/1250/1000rs.

Overall, the event was a huge success. However, some of the hyderabad folks didnt like the bangalore guys ( especially Shabbir, thanking only Bangalore and no mention for Hyderabad where the race was conducted). It would have been courteous to mention a simple thank you

All said and done, Shabbir was the hero of the event. And, many congratulations to him.

Yeah I remember that one. The guy had problem putting power to the wheels, and there was a lot of wheel spin at the start. But after that there was no looking back!

Agree. But, there was no cash prize initally announced. And, it was just a token of appreciation from GMR group. In fact, they approached the AP motor federation to conduct this race and they didnt even want their name anywhere, which was really a nice gesture and no ad gimmick.

Do note, this is first time ever an event of such kind happening in Hyderabad and do not look at the money, just at the gesture.

Btw, cash prize was announced yesterday late afternoon so no time for getting things organized, so they will be cutting cheques and sending to winners in next few days.

Well, Kudos to Hyderabad. I am confident the next event at Hyderabad will ROCK much much more.
