Officially unveiled at the Stockholm Motor Show in February 1956, this open-top two seater sports car had an aircraft type

The engine was a 3-cylinder 748 cc longitudinally mounted two stroke engine with an aluminum head on a CI block. It breathed through a dual choke Solex carb and developed 58 bhp @ 5,000 rpm, and 83.3 Newton-metres torque @ 4,000 rpm
Drove the rear wheels through a 4-speed ZF gearbox.

Only six were ever built even though it meant to be the first full production sports car by SAAB (Svenska Aeroplan Aktie-Bolaget : Swedish Aeroplanes Limited).

Out of the six, this ivory specimen in Mille Miglia colors marked "271" is the very first one and is located at the Saab Museum in Trollhättan, Sweden.

The bumper-overriders and wrap-around parking lights identify it as a 1962 Hino Contessa 900 PC-10.

The 1961 had simpler front facing parking lights and no overriders on the bumpers.

Note the two filler caps (one in the center of the engine-hood valance panel and one on the right).

Here is a 1962 Hino Contessa 900 PC-10 being followed by a 1961 Hino Contessa 900 PC-10.

Note the overrider-less bumpers of the 1961 and the bumper overriders of the 1962.

By 1963 they had gotten squatter and wider and more Chevrolet Corvairesque, with the debut of the elegant Hino Contessa Sprint. Then came the 1964 Contessa 1300 PD100 followed by the 1965 Contessa 1300 PD300 coupe and the all new 1966 Hino Contessa Sprint.

ID:552; 1956 DeSoto Adventurer

You got the year:1956 and marque: DeSoto right, karlosdeville.

ID:552
is a 1956 DeSoto Adventurer.
not Adventure, amit V8

With hooded headlamps and razor-edge styling, it has Virgil Exner's stereotypical "Forward Look" which featured in all Mopar products for 1956.

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-1956desotoadventurer.jpg

In 1956 Firedome was DeSoto's entry-level model.
and Fireflite was an upper-class model.
DeSoto's premium top-trim model that bowed in 1956 was the Adventurer.

How to tell?
The gold-plated turbine wheel covers and unique color scheme.

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-1956desotoadventurerwheelcovers.jpg

The Adventurer was a limited production two-door hardtop, based on the Fireflite.
It was available only in six color schemes.
One chose among one of only 3 colors -- Black, White or Gold for the lower body. And one of the remaining two colors for the contrasting roof and color sweep.

But all 1956 Desoto Adventurers had gold turbine-style wheel covers and gold-plated radiator grilles and trim pieces.

The turbine-style wheel covers were made of gold-anodized aluminum and covered the full rim surface. To reach the tire valve, the wheel-cover had to be pried-up 3" away from the wheel-rim, where it would snap-stop, suspended by five spring-clips.

The interiors featured exclusive gold vinyl upholstery with brown tweed inserts, and black carpeting with golden flecks of Lurex (Synthetic Zari) metallic yarn.
The dual-cove dashboard had black padding and gold-trimmed coves.

The ivory-colored steering wheel had gold grip sections at the left and right extremities on the circumference,
A phase-locked-loop (PLL) radio was standard -- the one that can detect and tune itself to the strongest signal.

The 1956 DeSoto Adventurer had a high-output V8 exhaling through dual exhausts.

A total of 996 cars were sold in 1956.

Sad story of neglect

This car is a sad story of neglect!

Lamborghini was a tractor manufacturer. The Lamborghini 350 GTV car was made for the exhibition at the Turin Show in October 1963.

One and only one GTV was ever produced and even that didn't have an engine !
The exhibited body had no engine, only a load of bricks for weight.
Yet no one in the show noticed.

The engine Bizzarini designed for this body was a 3.5 litre V12 48-valve QoHC, which would one day become the basis of every future Lamborghini V12.

However, the engine was never plonked in the chassis as the 12 trumpets of the six vertically mounted doppio corpo orrizontali DCOR Weber carburettors would not fit!! Can you believe that?

After the Turin show, the car was manually rolled to a corner of the factory and forgotten for twenty-two years.

Emilianauto, Italy restored the car, installed the engine at last and sold it off to the Isao Noritake collection in Japan.

footnote: Being a single-piece-only prototype, it doesn't even qualify to be on our thread.
