Formula 1 has confirmed a change to round 7 of the 2021 calendar, with the Turkish Grand Prix replacing the Canadian Grand Prix for the weekend of June 11 to 13.

Due to the ongoing international travel restrictions in place in Canada it became impossible for Formula 1 to enter the country without a mandatory 14-day quarantine, leading to the change.

“We are grateful for the efforts of the promoter and the authorities in Canada, Quebec and Montreal in the past few weeks to try and make the race happen and we are pleased to announce a two-year extension to our partnership with the Canadian Grand Prix,” read a statement by Formula 1.

“We will work with the promoter to ensure those with tickets from 2020 & 2021 races get the options of a refund or to transfer their tickets to next year’s race and look forward to racing in Canada in 2022.”

The Turkish GP has been cancelled and French GP pushed ahead to Turkish GP slot. This leads to a double header Austrian GP.

Formula 1 has provided an update on the 2021 race calendar, with new Covid-19 travel restrictions meaning it’s no longer possible to race in Turkey on June 11-13.

That weekend will now remain free, with the French Grand Prix moving a week earlier than originally planned to June 18-20 and a second race in Austria – the Styrian Grand Prix – added to the calendar on June 25-27.

That creates a new France-Styria-Austria triple header, with the Austrian Grand Prix staying in its original July 2-4 slot. All tickets to the French Grand Prix are valid for the earlier date.

This is one rumour that has been there since Russell made the step up to F1. This time, however, Ocon has really improved his game by out-qualifying Alonso consistently. If he does this throughout the season, I imagine Toto Wolf would have a sweet headache. Given that Ocon was the first Mercedes Young Driver to get into Formula 1, he would definitely be considered for a shot at the big seat if he manages to outperform Alonso.

Mercedes will only consider replacing Bottas seriously if they have a threat to constructors championship. With Checo still getting grips of his redbull, Mercedes will walk away with the constructors championship easily.

I think Hamilton has it in his contract to keep Bottas as his team mate.
Ocon or Russell, they should give someone else apart from Bottas an opportunity for the sake of good racing.

2021 Singapore GP called off.

With the city state having kept tight control in restricting the spread of coronavirus thanks to strict entry rules, it was felt that opening up for thousands of people to attend the night race was not possible.

There has not yet been an official statement about the Singapore GP, but an F1 spokesperson made clear that the sport’s commercial rights holder was working with promoters to ensure a full schedule could take place.
