No... As far as I remember the engine died after he slipped on to the gravel. A lapse in concentration onf massa and a pity for ferrari, they were looking really good for top two podium places.

Sure?becoz his rear wheels were spinning and he was trying to come out of gravel trap...

True, his engine was running even while he was in the gravel trap.It was really frustrating to see him spin out without much reason though.

Massa made a mistake, pure & simple. I think he's the first one to realise this season what not having the Electronic Traction control can do.

He accelerated too early & as a result spun the car. Tough luck.

No, the engine was running & he did try to get the car out. I just finished watching some of the replays.

The tyres spun before the engine died and I didnt saw any vigourous movements from the rear wheels while he was stuck in the gravel.

I think the whole deal with Hamilton and Schumi being put back on track when they were stuck in the gravel was also to do with the spot being a dangerous one. Massa had parked his car safely away from the action. So it was game over... Last year Hamilton was the only one in that pack of cars which had not hit the barriers and was still running.

Also, you guys are forgetting one very important thing.

Last year, if the safety car hadnt come out when Hamilton was on the gravel, he wouldnt have been saved. It was because it was a restart, he was allowed to continue.

Hamilton was lifted back onto the track because the race was red flagged,so any car in a running condition is bought back to the grid and can also be repaired.

Shumi was pushed out because he was stuck right on the edge of the track with cars going by hime who could hit him.

Massa was not in any of these circumstances and even though his engine was running he could not be pushed out.

Agree with you on that. Pushing his car would have been tough I guess. The car seemed to be benched nicely on the gravel. Sad end to his race, Ferrari definitely deserved two podium finishes.

Rules were changed after Nurburgring last year to avoid any repeat of Hamilton. Driver can not get any external help if he stuck somewhere. If he can't get the car back on to the track on his own, he has to retire

Yes, its very difficult to push a F1 car that has been beached high and dry on its under belly, you saw that with Hamilton in China 07.

Great race run by Kimi - leading from the front. At one stage he was over a minute quiceker than everyone else on the track. Impressive!
Massa once again disappointed. He just doesn't seem to be able to cope with the lack of traction control.
Nice to see Kubica finish in second after last week's misfortune.
The two McLarens ran sensibly and finished well despite all their problems.
