Some latest pictures of the track under construction are posted on www.gpupdate.net. From the pictures, the prep for the Indian F1 next year seems to be in full swing and on track.

Here is the URL to the same:

Turn 7 looks very much like a watered down version of Laguna's famed corkscrew. Overall it looks very technical and you'd be toast if you don't have a planted car. The downer, as it is the case now, is the aero angle. You can't overtake much here unless you are close enough and the current aero set up makes it nearly impossible to make that happen. Only chance is the guy in front having a bad set up sliding and losing drive out of the corners. And this is Greater Noida - dust will be a guarantee.

A view of the construction site on December 19,

Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)-8198.jpg

Work on the venue of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix is on schedule, despite heavy monsoons delaying construction in 2010.

According to a report in India's Mail Today, the grandstands at the circuit outside New Delhi have been built and the first layer of track has been laid. To ensure work is completed on time 4,000 workers have been drafted in to work over two shifts.

The chief operating officer of construction at the site, Boris Lazaric, said he was confident the circuit would impress at the inaugural race on October 30.

"It's one of the best tracks with ample opportunities to overtake," he told Mail Today. "There will be a good challenge to the drivers. As for construction, everything is going as per schedule."

In 2010 the organisers of the Korean Grand Prix left the finishing touches to their circuit to the last minute after heavy rains delayed the laying of the track. However, Jaypee Sports International, who are behind the organisation of the Indian Grand Prix, expect to have the track in the town of Greater Noida completed as early as May.

re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

Some part of the track looks really good!

Though I think the straight patch is quite a bit long. There's sure gonna be lots of overtaking!

By the way, the track doesn't seem on a plain; some portion is elevated. Apart from the turns, this wouldn't really help right?

Do other circuits have the track on different horizontal levels too?

I went to the site on 22/01/11, and found the track sealed off. Good measure!

Waiting for the first track day to drive on it next!

Many racing circuits across the globe have elevated bits. It adds a hint of challenge to the brew. What fun would it be if it were on a plain/flat surface?

@StreetAddict you seem to have got a great close view of the track construction.lucky you..I am pretty much excited as well..Specially the inclines in the track would give it a NASCAR type feeling. But the main area of my interest is to see how the Indian authorities pick up this huge one of a kind event in the country.Considering the fact that the track is being completely developed by a private developer allays my fears to some extent and I hope we give the world a superb race capable of high excitement and high standards.
