Re: My Silver Ford EcoSport Titanium (O) TDCi. First delivered in India!

50000 KM UPDATE

My Ecosport has lived upto most of expectations till date.

FEATURES WHICH I MISS
-Electronically operated closing for side mirrors.
-Touch screen with navigation
-2nd trip function.
-Automatic headlight (We forget to switch off the headlamp after existing the basement )

USAGE:
City and highway

NIGGLES AND BREAKDOWNS
none

TYRES
Upgraded tyres to Yokohama ASPEC 215/60/R16 (increased side wall height is providing better comfort than the stock size 205/60/16 Yokohama db series)
Speedometre error is only 1.8km per 100kms which is negligible(picture attached)

ACCESSORIES /CONVENIENCES
-BNB cycle rack ,both on the spare wheel and roof INR 20000
-Hella rallye 3003 with 100w halogens (very long throw for highways) INR 12000

Car is still on stock clutch and brake pads.
Brake pads are good for another 10000kms

EXPENSES TILL DATE(june 2013 to March 2016)
-Total fuel consumed :3571 litres.(INR 178555 approx)
-Comprehensive insurance :INR 28000
-wheel alignment and balancing (5 times): INR 2500
-New tyres (5nos):INR 38000
-Cost paid to Mody Ford for service:INR 30100.
-Miscellaneous expences(car care stuff /washing etc) : 6000

All inclusive cost per kilometre is approximately INR 5.66.(which is quite good)

Guys,
Please help me if I have missed anything ,will be happy to update

You need to include depreciation to calculate true cost per kilometer, I. E., how much the value of the vehicle has come down from on road price you paid to resale value as of now.

Let us say you bought the car for Rs. 11 lakh and the market value now is 7 lakhs. You would divide this difference of 4 Lakhs over the number of km you have done, so let us say you did 50k kms, then coat of depreciation per km is Rs. 8.

Wonderful to know that your Ecosport has finished 50000 kms without any major or minor problems.
I quite liked your tyre upgrade. The detailed info is useful. Thanks.
Yes the electronically foldable ORVMs are something that I really wish for especially when driving around in narrow lanes with oncoming vehicles.
I have just completed 15000 kms and so far so good.

Easiest way is Check owners manual or pull out the bulb

2)Component speakers work well when connected to a suitable amplifier(check with your dealer if he would honour warranty if you do so).
Alternatively to start with, you could buy a pair of tweeters for the existing system(check my ownership thread for details)
Connecting an amplifier with recommended wiring will be difficult if the ecosport model is the one with start/stop button.

Manual switch on / off might be required for the external amplifier .

Thanks for your kind words, Wilful.
The tyre upgrade to 215/60/R16 is quite satisfactory.
Wish you many more happy miles.

How much did those Yokohama's cost you? My Ecosport has done 44K and the tires look good for another 10-15K. However I plan to change them early if I get a good deal.

Good to see you here, PrideRed.
Eagerly waiting for your Endeavour's ownership review.

Now back to our topic.
Tyres get harder with time and I usually like to change them within 3 years irrespective of the wear and tear.
I think it's a good time for your Ecosport too.

Yokohama Aspec 215/60/16 is INR 7600 each and has enhanced comfort due to bigger side wall.

Thanks for the details mate.
Did you replace the Stepney as well? Is the wider tyre causing any issues?

Endeavour review is in pipeline, busy office schedule is pushing the timelines

Wider tyre is performing better in terms of handling and cornering.
Replaced all 5 tyres because all were used in tyre rotation and also 215/60 is an upsize.

I recommend you to to change all 5 tyres so that height difference will not create an issue.
Incase your spare tyre is brand new, exchange it for the new up size for a marginal price difference

Happy driving

I am taking delivery of a new Ecosport AT on the 20th of this month. I am going to upgrade to the Michelin Primacy 3ST after delivery. Now after reading about your upsize, I am again confused. Should I get the 215/60R16 instead of the stock 205/60R16. Does the upsize foul in anyway with the wheel well. Does it offer better handling and braking?

I am not looking at any other brand or make for the upgrade. Got the Michelins on my Cruze and very happy with the performance and have thus chosen these for the Ecosport as well.

I have been following your thread for a very long time. I also wanted to know if it is possible for us to install the DRLs which come with the Titanium+ Variant. Can we also install the rear fog lamps?

That's a good one front Winston Churchill.

215 's performance is superb.
No wheel well problems either.

Regarding DRL's, reterofitment is not a good idea at this point of time as you have plenty of ready to fit options.
It would be better if you pick something like Eagle eye or similar brand

Anybody know how to source the 4.2" TFT color display (OEM) for Ecosport which comes with European model? Ford UK is selling it , but refused to give it against an Indian VIN. Please help to source it.

Megaudio and Caska are two brands which make plug and play replacement touch screens.
