Can you please confirm from the first picture it whether this version is the latest from Ford.

Hello bhpians,

I had a very peculiar problem with my car and I am sure many will concur with me.

Once you open the bonnet there is a huge latch which protrudes down, I am used to clean the engine bay whenever I clean the car and this latch keeps hitting my head when I move from left to right of the vehicle.

I desperately wanted it to open further up and there was space too.

I shared the idea with Ranjitnair and Srinivas gopal.

Later ordered the parts from him and did a DIY job, I should say the outcome was fantastic and solved my problem completely.

Now the bonnet opens further up by more than a feet

Will let the pictures do the talking including the tools used.

Good install buddy, Is there any provision another gas strut on the other side of the bonnet, I mean right side (when viewed from front)?

Excellent DIY Doc!

Does the bonnet go up due to the strut's force if we release the bonnet lever? Or does it require a bit more effort, say hold it till a certain height and then the bonnet pulls itself up.

Could you post a few more clear snaps of the gas strut? Specifically locations where the struts were screwed to the bonnet and the body.

Do share the specifications of the strut used as well - make/model, length and force rating. Would help others.

Absolutely Anurag but one is robust enough and the second one is not at all required.

Also can vento's arm rest be installed on to the polo?
One of my friend Rajesh rawal was looking for it.

No extra effort , it goes up as soon as you release the latch under the bonnet.

And are you sure 1 strut will be fine? Because what I'm seeing in the photos is that the strut is placed to close to the rotating axis so huge amount of torque is needed to rotate the hood all the way up, against the gravity.

Absolutely, one is more than enough.
With two you cannot close the bonnet easily

Guys,

I drove down from Hyderabad to chennai on a project work and it was 43 to 44 degrees.
When I stepped out for fuel I had fogging on my glasses.
Kudos to the air conditioning system of ecosport, it kept us chilled inside.

It was 700km and we did an average of 88kmph as the traffic was minimal due to heat.
FE was around 16.8kmpl
Speeds were between 100 to 130kmph.

Drive was extremely comfortable, was able to test the cars abilities to the maximum (in terms of cornering)

I think Ford has learnt their lesson and put in tremendous effort in designing ecosport.

state highways have become as good as national highways

My car refrigerator provided all refreshments and again proved to be very helpful.

We also had the opportunity to visit the Aprilia and Motoguzzi showroom(the california model was awesome).
